Wolcot, CT — The Connecticut Timberwolves split Sunday's double-header in Wolcott, winning Game 1 by a score of 8-2. The Eagles came back to win an exciting Game 2, 9-8. In Game 1, Lyla Del Rossi went the distance for the TWolves, earning her 2nd win of the young season and tossing an impressive 39/52 pitches for strikes. Del Rossi went 4 innings, allowed just 4 hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out 5. Mackenzie Jacobs crushed two hits and knocked in two runs for the Timberwolves to pace the offensive attack, including a booming double. The Timberwolves drew 13 walks, including 2 a piece for Del Rossi, Lamis Haidar and Nadia Stubbs. The offense did not strike out once. In Game 2, the Timberwolves were unable to hold a late 8-7 lead and fell just short of a comeback. Avery Kipperman and Stubbs split duties on the mound. Stubbs made her season debut and tossed two innings and allowed 2 runs. The Timberwolves offense generated 12 hits in Game 2. Izzy Burgos (3 hits, 1 walk, 4 runs on the day), Lamis Haidar (2 hits, including a huge double, 2 walks, 5 runs on the day), Victoria Dobrydney (3 hits, 1 walk, 3 rbi on the day) and Tammy Lombardo (3 hits, 2 rbi on the day) all had two hits to lead the charge. Defensively, Nuala Matthews made a dazzling running, basket catch in left field and was fantastic at first base and catcher. Camilla Torres threw another runner out attempting to steal and was a brick wall behind the plate. The Timberwolves are 2-1-1 in the Wolcott Fall League. They host the Valley Fusion at home at Trumbull High School on Sunday morning.
