Bonner Springs, KS — A rare Monday game for our boys this season. The guys started out strong in the game. It was evident early on that the game was going to be a physical game. Gavin Shupe had a great shot on goal that put us up 1-0. It didn’t take long for Bonner to find the back of our net after that. The rest of the night was back and forth. Near the end of regulation we found ourself advancing on their side and had a couple of opportunities to get out of there. We weren’t able to find the back of the net though and went to overtime. With tires legs our guys worked hard and created many of chances but just weren’t able to find that touch needed to send us away with a “W” Gavin and Andrea looked good in the middle. Those two can control the middle of the field and have a chance this season to be very dynamic. Gannon filled in very nicely to our center forward position. It was great to see Silas get more minutes as he continue his comeback from his dislocated elbow. Emery can be a force on the outside or the middle and can be a player to make game changing plays. Aiden and Wesley shared time as an outside back and both looked good. It was good to have Aiden healthy. Also both Lachlan’s were great as center backs and really anchored our defense. Caeder was dynamic in our attack from the outside back roll. Isaiah and Cole did great at defensive mid and I feel as if we have found the recipe for them for the remainder of the season. Jackson was great in goal as well tonight. All in all we had a good game going against a 5A school. We created many of chances and just need to find ways to put them in the back of the net. The boys will have 2 days to continue to improve before we take on 6A foe Junction City at home Thursday night.
