Burnt Hills, NY — Timothy Venditti drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Burnt Hills Spartans past the Amsterdam Rams 13-11 on Saturday. In the fourth inning, Venditti homered to center field, scoring three runs. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Burnt Hills collected 12 hits and Amsterdam seven in the high-scoring affair. Amsterdam got on the board in the top of the first inning after Logan Miller doubled, and Ross Sanders grounded out, each scoring one run. The Spartans tied the game up in the bottom of the first thanks to two ground outs and an error. Amsterdam took the lead in the top of the second. Patrick Vidulich singled, scoring one run, to give the Rams the edge, 3-2. A single by Matt Martin gave Burnt Hills the lead again, 4-3, in the bottom of the second. Amsterdam flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs on four hits to take a 11-10 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Vidulich on an 0-2 count that drove in two. Burnt Hills-Ballston took the lead a final time, 13-11, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to singles by Cooper Igoe, and Maddie Tse. Jack Sunkes earned the win for the Spartans. The reliever surrendered three hits and one run over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Dominick Morey pitched three innings in relief for Burnt Hills. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs while, striking out four and walking none. Anthony Lopez took the loss for Amsterdam Varsity Rams. The right-handed pitcher went two innings, giving up six runs on six hits, striking out three and walking three. Tse started on the bump for Burnt Hills. The righty gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two. Christian Quinones-Perez started on the mound for Amsterdam. They gave up six hits and seven runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking four. Burnt Hills piled up 12 hits in the game. Igoe, the Spartans's number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Martin collected two hits in two at bats. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Ben Yerina, Igoe, and Martin each stole multiple bases. Burnt Hills ran wild on the base paths, amassing 12 stolen bases for the game. Vidulich went 3-for-4 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with three runs batted in. Jude Flint and Miller each collected multiple hits for Amsterdam. Burnt Hills will travel to Saratoga Springs for their next game on Monday.
