Delmar, NY — Bethlehem scored five runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Burnt Hills 9-2 on Friday at Bethlehem Central High School. Burnt Hills got on the board in the second inning after Atticus Marvin singled, scoring two runs. Bethlehem jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Gavin Martin walked, CJ Franchini doubled, Owen Turner singled, Franchini scored after tagging up, and Bob Frick singled, each scoring one run. Tim Sparks earned the win for Bethlehem. He allowed seven hits and two runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one. Logan McNeal took the loss for the Spartans. The starting pitcher went three innings, surrendering five runs on five hits, striking out four and walking three. Marvin and Hunter Rauhauser seized on their opportunities, leading the Spartans with one run batted in from the number eight and nine spots in the lineup. The center fielder and catcher combine to go 3-for-6 on the day. Timothy Venditti and Marvin each collected two hits for the Spartans. Frick, the number eight hitter for Bethlehem, led the way with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-2 on the day. Franchini and Frick each collected two hits. The Eagles had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Mike Waldenmaier and Christian Mikulski led the team with two bases on balls each. Joe Monserrat stole three bases. The Eagles were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Martin made the most plays with nine. Burnt Hills welcomes Troy on Wednesday for their next game.
