Lexington, MA — After losing to Concord-Carlisle 6-0 in last year's final, this game picked up right where that one left off with C-C scoring 4 first period goals en route to a 7-3 victory. Coming out of the first intermission down 4-0, Wachusett was determined to make a game of it. The Mountaineers outscored the Patriots 3 - 1 in the second to make it 5-3 going into the 3rd. Senior Captain Parker Meyer would open the scoring for Wachusett just 3:23 into the frame with assists going to Jason Flaherty and Cody Penniman. Penniman would score just 1:19 later to make it a 4-2 game. Flaherty and Caden Lane collected assists on the goal. C-C would extend the lead to 5-2 at 10:32, but Jason Flaherty gave the Mountaineers life at 11:49 with a goal assisted by Penniman and Freshman defenseman Ethan Bennett. Although the boys battled hard in the 3rd and generated many opportunities, they just could not find the twine. Credit to C-C's goalie who turned away 27 shots in the win. Also, congrats to C-C forward Jay Carter who scored his 100th career point after scoring 3 goals and 3 assists in the win. With the loss, the Mountaineers head into a week off with a 5 and 2 record.
