Sterling, VA — The Stealth beat Sage 12U Maginnis 5-2 on Saturday for their second win of Pool play if the Stingrays Fall Classic Tournament. The Sage 12U Maginnis opened the scoring in the first inning after Avery E drew a walk, scoring one run. Khaleesi Hummel had an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game. Sage 12U Maginnis took the lead in the top of the second. A passed ball scored one run, to give Sage 12U Maginnis the leg up, 2-1. The Stealth took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Nikki Singh Kochhar walked bringing in a run and eventually scored. Ella Feek scored after Emma Lentz reached first on a dropped 3rd strike. Reese Hymel hit an RBI single and scored on a passed ball. Miranda Reese stepped in the circle first for the Stealth. The hurler gave up two hits and two runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking four. Reese Hymel threw one inning of shutout ball for the Stealth in relief giving up zero hits and walking two. Giuliana C stepped in the circle first for the Sage 12U Maginnis. The starter gave up three hits and five runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking four. Leadoff hitter Reese Hymel led the Stealth with two hits in two at bats. Khaleesi Hummel, Reese Hymel, Nikki Singh Kochhar, and Emma Lentz each drove in one run for the Stealth. Ruby Sowers paced the Stealth with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Ella Frazitta stole three bases. The Stealth stole six bases in the game. The Stealth turned one double play in the game when Ella Frazitta caught a pop up at third base and threw out the runner at first. Maya D and Natalie K each collected a hit for the Sage 12U Maginnis. Nora S paced Sage 12U Maginnis with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Overall, The Stealth went 2-0 on the opening day of the Stingrays Fall Classic Tournament earning the top spot for Sunday’s Bracket play. The Stealth will play the winner of the VA Fury Platinum Williams and Sage-12U – Maginnis game on Sunday.
