Newtown Freshman Nighthawks scored seven runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Pomperaug 12-5 on Wednesday. Jacob Kelly singled, scoring one run, Chase Connell doubled, scoring one run, Max Carta singled, scoring one run, Michael Murphy singled, scoring one run, Blaise Mindenhall singled, scoring one run, Kyle Duncan grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Newtown Freshman Nighthawks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Chase Connell doubled, scoring two runs, Max Carta doubled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Kyle Duncan stepped on the mound first for Newtown Freshman Nighthawks. The righty surrendered one hit and two runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two.
