Recap
South Pasadena, CA — South Pasadena extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-8. They lost 8-0 to the Monrovia Wildcats. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.
As for Monrovia, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
For Monrovia's part, Carly Polanco made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Polanco a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Monrovia got a big performance out of Mayiah Dixon, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Dixon has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mischa Lue-Long, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. South Pasadena will challenge Temple City at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Monrovia, they will take on San Marino at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
