Both teams were strong on the bump on Saturday, but Blue Mountain was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. Logan Shean started the game for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs and recorded 18 outs.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs was right in it until Blue Mountain hit into a fielder's choice in the fifth inning.
Blue Mountain were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.
Chase Miller singled to center field, which helped Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs tie the game at one in the top of the fourth.
Shean began the game for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. The starter surrendered six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Frankie Russo stepped on the hill first for Blue Mountain. The pitcher surrendered five hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking none.
Miller led Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Tyler Sanders and Callen Nicklas each collected two hits for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs.
Kohen Kirby led Blue Mountain with one run batted in. Sonny Amato went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Blue Mountain in hits. Blue Mountain were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ryan Clemas had the most chances in the field with seven.
