Performance

For the second consecutive week, the freshman turned in an outstanding performance at defensive tackle. Hamelberg was a force up front and helped a Breakers defense hold Troy to 14 points while repeatedly coming up with stops in critical situations.

CO-MVP
Braden Hansen
Thrown into action after Hurst’s first-drive injury, the freshman quarterback answered in a big way. Hansen broke loose for a 43-yard run, rushed for two touchdowns and connected with Will Kimball for a fourth-quarter TD. He also delivered two big third-down completions to Brady Stringham, including one that set the Breakers up at the 1-yard line. A tremendous performance under pressure.

Harrison Onel
Another freshman who was asked to step into a major role and delivered. With Easton Perez sidelined, Onel took over at center and helped anchor an offensive line that paved the way for Laguna’s best rushing performance of the season. A big-time effort in his first Delta League game.

Bob Gardner
Made an impact on both sides of the ball. Gardner recovered a crucial third-quarter fumble to stop Troy inside the Laguna red zone, then capped a fourth-quarter drive with a 1-yard touchdown run that gave the Breakers a two-score advantage.

Xavier Brooks
A disruptive force all night. Brooks burst through the line to block Troy’s field-goal attempt after an early Laguna turnover, keeping the Warriors off the scoreboard when they started just nine yards from the end zone. He later added a big sack as part of another outstanding defensive performance.

Brady Stringham
When Laguna needed a big conversion, Stringham delivered. He connected with Hansen on multiple key third-down passes, including a huge fourth-quarter reception that took the ball all the way to the Troy 1-yard line, setting up Gardner’s touchdown and helping put the game away.
