La Habra, CA — Fullerton came out swinging and had the LM 6U girls beat 11-1 at the top of the 4th inning(last inning). Fullerton had home field advantage, so they were not expecting to hit. La Mirada finally woke up and came out swinging. Coach said “we need to bat around if we are going to have a chance”. Sure enough 1 by 1 the girls were getting on base. Run after run was coming in and before you know it we were tied 11-11. Fullerton in disbelief, prepped their girls and they stepped in the box to hit. 2 girls hit and made it on base. With girls on 1sr and 2nd the 3rd girl walked up to the box. Girl swings and we get a force out at 3rd. Next girl comes up and another force out at 3rd. Next girl steps up and she’s a big hitter. Everyone was nervous when the pitch was released. “Smack” she hits a shot into the air. The ball looked like it was going in the outfield between short and second base. We thought that was it “game over”, but our shortstop Zoey ran as fast as she can towards the ball with her glove out. The ball lands in her glove and she rolled to the ground. She stood up with ball in hand and the crowd erupted. Zoey was so happy she was in tears. Umpire yelled “Game Over” Zoey was carried off the field in victory. Tie game and The La Mirada 6U girls came back from a 10 run deficit to end the game. In everyone’s eyes this was a victory. That’s how All Stars is played.
