Westminster, CA — Taking advantage of a facility with 10 courts, we played both Varsity teams - boys and girls - at the time and location. The slightly abbreviated match of 2x2 singles with the regular 3x3 doubles resulted in a total of 13 sets, 11 of which were won by JSerra. JSerra swept singles, with Zach Champine and Gary Davidson each winning both of their 2 sets played. Gary took a tough opening set vs their #2 player 7-5; then destroyed their top player 6-1, after Zack took all the wind out of his sail in the opening round. One of the best played matches was 1 vs 1 doubles, with Brock Bowman and Sean Delaney defeating their talented top doubles team 6 - 3. Brock and Sean cruised easily from that point on, winning all 3 sets this afternoon. After dropping their first 2 sets, Michael Woodward and Anthony Ashworth fought back to beat the Aztecā€™s #2 team 6 - 0 in the final round. Lastly, the best and final set of the day: congrats to Nick Dubrow and Aiden German who defeated the Aztecs #1 team 7-6 (7-2) in a great come from behind victory. After being down the whole set, and 3-5, Nick and Aiden played smart Tennis to force a tie-breaker, and win! 3 for 3 today - Great effort guys! Next up: at El Toro Monday, March 15th.
