Newport Beach, CA — Heartbreaker💔 loss today by ONE game!😱 Good lesson learned though, EVERY GAME COUNTS! When sets are tied at match end, you count every single game played to see who wins, we needed 2 more games🥲. Because Newport Harbor’s coach chose to play a “normal” format (3x3 singles + 3x3 doubles) as opposed to all doubles, a couple of our players got in once, but most everybody got to play 2 full sets of tennis. We had a pretty balanced “attack” - 5 set wins in singles + 4 set wins in doubles. MVP honors today go to those who won 100% of sets played, which is a HUGE accomplishment against Newport Harbor: Sophia Gonzalez and Fionnuala McClain both won 2 sets of singles before being subbed out; and Makenna Mason won 2 sets of doubles - 1 with Kaitlyn Donner, another with Erica Gonzalez. Picking up additional set wins today: Sofia Recupero in singles; Lucy Meyer and Sienna Livak in doubles; Jenna Carter and Grace Medina in doubles.
