capital heights, MD — Saturday the boys had an early turnover in their own redzone, which led to a TD a few plays later. They didn't put their heads down and quit, they fought back. Missing several passes in the 1st half by the offense, the defense had to step up. The defense had several stops even a stop in the redzone to keep the game close. Critical moment and probably the most controversial call of the game came late in the 1st half with the defense holding steady in the redzone again........the D make a stop, the ball carrier was stopped, whistles blows, players, stop. The runner proceeds to pitch the ball to another player and that player proceeds to run in the endzone untouched while most had stopped on the play on both sides. After a few heated moments of argument and protest to no avail...we went into halftime down 12-0. Second half was pretty much a stalemate with both sides unable to produce any real production on offense, it was a defensive battle, a heated rivalry that lived up to the hype. Good football played by both teams. We scored late in the fourth quarter which closed the lead to 12-6, after a failed onside kick attempt, the Wolfpack ran the clock out taking a knee and the game. A game which had several missed opportunities by the Slime Mob, a game that was taken away by a horrible call......but the missed opportunities also played a part in the Loss. At the end of the day it was said by both sides the officiating was horrible and we were robbed on quite a few plays. To avoid this in the future we must execute better so the refs cannot be a deciding factor in the game. The real travel begins in week 3 with a trip to Salisbury, Md to take on a newly assembled team with experienced coaches leading them. Time to get better and continue to work hard, we must overcome any adversity put in front of us if we want to win games.
