Salisbury, MD — Saturday began with a long Bus ride to the Eastern shore of Maryland for the boys. All week they kept saying and hearing that’s a long ride to take a L so you must be ready. This was a BUSINESS trip and we were going to handle business. Getting off the bus and getting themselves lined up and FOCUSED without coaches instructions, that BUSINESS trip mentality had kicked in. The game started out with a BANG!! a sack on the 1st played was made by our youngest and smallest player. He shot through the D line nearly untouched and got the sack for a BIG loss on 1st down! THAT play SET THE TONE for the 1st 1/2 because the team knows who made that play for them. That just had them extra hyped up now. The Defense was ready!! 3 plays later we score on a punt return and kicked the extra point to go up 8-0. The defense continued to dominate the next few possessions as the offense stalled and missed a few key opportunities. The offense finally found its rhythm midway through the second quarter and scored again on a nice pass and catch, followed by another kicked extra point putting us up 16-0. The 2nd half was a defensive battle. The offense missed a few more scoring chances and made a few mistakes and didn’t reach the end zone again. The defense dominated the game all day only giving up a late TD pass making the score 16-6 as the final. Great team WIN, still more room to improve…you play how you practice and they didn’t have a great week of practice. After the game they faced the consequences of having unfocused practices despite the BUSINESS trip talk.
