Varsity teams beats Eastern Brown 57-50

Waverly picked up an impressive 57-50 home victory over Eastern Brown, improving their record to 11-8 on the season. The team delivered a well-rounded performance that showcased their offensive depth and ability to maintain composure under pressure throughout the contest. The game began with Waverly establishing early control, as Kage Alexander got things started from the free-throw line and quickly built momentum with solid contributions from Kai Keesee and Landyn Russell. Alexander was particularly effective in the first quarter, scoring 7 points to help Waverly build a commanding 20-11 lead. The team continued their strong play into the second quarter, with Alexander adding another 7 points while Davion McBride connected on a crucial three-pointer to extend the advantage to 32-19 at halftime. Eastern Brown mounted a determined comeback attempt in the third quarter, going on a 9-point scoring run that cut Waverly's lead to just four points at 36-32. However, Waverly showed great resilience and responded with key baskets from McBride and Keesee to weather the storm. In the fourth quarter, the team pulled away for good behind Alexander's continued excellence at the free-throw line and clutch shooting from multiple players. Varsity falls 55-46 to South Webster

Waverly fought hard in a competitive home contest against South Webster but came up short, falling 55-46 despite some outstanding individual performances. The loss drops Waverly's record to 9-7 as they continue building momentum in what has been a solid season. While South Webster managed to pull away in the final minutes, Waverly showed great heart and determination throughout the four quarters. The game featured several exciting momentum swings, with Waverly briefly taking the lead 28-27 in the third quarter thanks to consecutive baskets from Landyn Russell and Sawyer Myers. However, South Webster responded with strong scoring runs, including an 8-point streak in the third quarter that helped them regain control. The teams battled closely through the first half, with Waverly trailing just 27-24 at halftime after staying within striking distance. Kage Alexander led the way for Waverly with an impressive 16-point performance, showcasing his versatility by connecting on 4 of 13 field goals, including a three-pointer, while excelling at the free-throw line with a stellar 7-of-8 shooting (88%). Davion McBride provided excellent support with 12 points on efficient 5-of-7 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range. Varsity team loses to Jackson 44-39

Waverly battled hard at home against Jackson but came up just short in a competitive 44-39 loss. Despite the setback, the team showed tremendous heart and resilience throughout the contest, keeping their record at 9-8 for the season. The game featured multiple lead changes and exciting momentum swings that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The contest got off to a back-and-forth start with both teams trading baskets early. Kage Alexander got Waverly going with consistent scoring in the first quarter, putting up 6 points, while Sawyer Myers opened the game with the first basket. However, Jackson closed the quarter strong with a 7-point scoring streak, including a three-pointer, to take a 15-8 advantage into the second period. Waverly showed incredible fight in the second quarter, with Alexander continuing his stellar play by adding 6 more points through aggressive drives to the basket and solid free throw shooting. The team's best moment came when Landyn Russell connected on a crucial two-pointer to give Waverly a brief 16-15 lead. The third quarter saw Sawyer Myers step up as the top scorer with 5 points, showcasing excellent shooting efficiency, while Davion McBride knocked down a clutch three-pointer to keep the team within striking distance. The fourth quarter was pure drama as Waverly made one final push. Alexander and Russell combined for key baskets to tie the game at 33-33, and Alexander's free throws even gave Waverly a 34-33 lead.
