On Monday, 4/22 the Vanden JV Vikings lost its series opener versus league rival Rodriguez High School. The Mustangs would prevail by a score of 9-4, dropping their record to 11-9 overall and 7-6 in MEL play.
On Friday, 4/19 the Vanden JV Vikings were dealt the final blow of a 3-game sweep at the hands of Vacaville High School. The final score was 10-0, finishing a week that saw the Bulldogs outscore the Vikings 26-2 total. The loss drops Vanden’s record to 11-8 overall and 7-5 in MEL play.
Today your Vanden track team had members competing in the Meet of Champions at American River College. Var. Boys 4x100 relay team ( Solomon Strayhorn, KJ Davis, Jamarion Grace, Gavin MacCoy) had a DNF with a baton exchange during the race, Var. Girls 4x100 relay was 4th 48.67 (Nia Riley, Egypt Hodges, Naiaja Sizemore, Jasmine Rochell), Naiaja Sizemore 100m 3rd 12.04, 200m 1st 24.76, Skye Odom 100H 5th 16.01, Long Jump 6th 16'5.75, Triple Jump 6th 35'8.50, Isabella Taylor High Jump NH congratulations to these athletes competing today in a good meet seeing athletes from all over our section / bay area and out of state. Meet of Champions you run against some of the best athletes. Very proud of our athletes today next week we are back to work getting better!!
The #20 SJS Vikings defeated the #10 SJS Monterey Trail Mustangs 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-21) in a showdown between the Metropolitan Conference League's top two teams. It was a huge night for the Vanden Senior's final home league game. The Vikings are graduating 9 seniors from this team. For the senior class - Setter Ryan Castro had 3 sets and 1 dig, OH Christian Ting had 10 kills, 5 digs, DS Jaiden Borja had 3 digs, Libero Dylan Hoang logged 13 digs, OH Andre Aguilera had a season high 20 kills, 9 digs, MB William Iheanacho had 9 kills and 6 blocks, Oppo Dallas Pabon had 3 kills and a block. Oppo Kaleb Munstermann chipped in 3 kills. Serving specialist Jared Santos had an efficient night of serving with only 1 error on the night and great passing. The Vikings travel to Laguna Creek on Tuesday the 23rd to face the #3 Metro team.
