About Us

NJC is a Division I Junior College who placed 5th in 2023, 13th in 2022, 11th in 2021, and 8th in 2019. Going into this season we were pre-ranked 6th and went into the National Tournament seeded 2nd. We finished our season 36-3 and had 3 players ranked in the top 10 for statistics for a majority of our season. We also won the Championship Tittle for our Region. Both of our sophomore outsides were ranked top 5 for kills. And we a have setter ranked top 3 in Assists who was awarded First-Team All American as well as our sophomore outside. We finished at the National Tournament 5th overall. We practice and play in an 8 million dollar facility that includes our main gym with two Jumbotron screens, an aux gym with two courts and a running track above, a weight room, cardio room, training room and classrooms as well as locker rooms specific to each sport. Our gym floors have also been newly renovated! With the Jumbotrons, our players also get to participate in a big media day, creating player cards as well as a hype video that are displayed during the match, something that many athletes at the junior college level do not get to experience! At NJC we have 100% transfer rate for girls who want to go on to play at the 4-year level. We send girls to all Divisions in NCAA as well as NAIA. To date since Coach Chrisman has been here, our highest placement was at Florida State University in the ACC. We have had numerous All-Region players as well as All-Americans. We have made our five National Tournament appearances in a row – a school record! We’ve also had many players reach multiple accolades this season: Libero of the Year, Region IX Tournament MVP, All-Region IX Tournament, and All-Region IX to name just a few. We also had multiple players nationally ranked in categories of blocks per set, digs per set, and kills per set. NJC is led by Mackenzie Chrisman who is coming into her fifth year with the program. In 2019 she was awarded the AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year and took over as Head Coach in 2020. In the 2021 season she was voted Region IX South Coach of the Year as well as AVCA West Region Coach of the Year! This season she has been awarded the 2023 Region IX South Coach of the Year as well as well as AVCA West Region Coach of the Year! Coach Chrisman is familiar with the Sterling community and is seeking players who can take us farther than this program has gone before. NJC is becoming a well-known Junior College and strives to continue to be one of the best in the country.
