What a week. Tuesday 11/26 your Olympic Trojans dominated conference rival South Mecklenburg Sabres 60-23, bringing them to 2-0 in the SoMeck 7 conference. Picking up pins for the Trojans were Landon Bean, Amon Ellis, Braeden DeLaO, Jonavan Harris, Colby Schefers, Amir Haynes, Joshua Sanchez, Brandon Tang, and Bryce Times.

Wednesday 11/27 the team traveled to Salisbury High School to compete in the Salisbury Thanksgiving Tournament. Your Trojans finished the day with champions Landon Bean (106) and Amon Ellis (120), runners up Colby Schefers (145), Amir Haynes (160), Brandon Tang (195), and Bryce Times (285), as well as third place finishers Sam Sturm (113) and Jonavan Harris (132). Also scoring points for the Trojans were Ethan Gordon (145) and Justus Copeland. Due to a few injuries and holiday visits the OHS wrestling team competed with only 10 of 14 wrestlers one of which appeared to be prime to win the tournament who had to withdraw for injury in his second match, so only able to amass a few points. Still your Trojans came away with the team championship title with an amazing 155 points due to the pinning prowess of these wrestlers. With 19 pins the Olympic wrestlers were able to make up for the points that there missing teammates would have assuredly score by putting up 38 bonus points. To give you an idea of how much these bonus points helped, a tournament champion with no pins would score 18 points. So, the 10 wrestlers made up for 2 champions and another individual match win with the pins they accrued. This was an amazing day and the coaching staff is so proud of the whole team.
