Wednesday 12/4 your Trojans took on the Philip O. Berry Academy Cardinals. We improved to 3-0 in conference play with a 67-12 victory with pins from Landon Bean, Samson Sturm, Amon Ellis, Jonavan Harris, DQ Merchant, Colby Schefers, Amir Haynes, Brandon Tang, and Bryce Times. The Trojans also got a win by decision from Ethan Gordon and wins by forfeit from Sebastian Benitez and Jasiah Toussaint.
Saturday the Trojans travelled to East Mecklenburg High School to defend last years title at the Jim Hayes Invitational. This year we finished tied for second but this was not too bad considering we were competing again with only 10 wrestlers due to health issues and injuries. Our team were bested by Central Davidson who took the title with 137.5 points. Olympic finished tied with East Mecklenburg with 127.5 points. Coming home with the 160 pound title was Amir Haynes. Amon Ellis (120) and Samson Sturm (113) were runners up. Colby Schefers brought home a bronze in the 145 pound weight class.
Next week the Trojans face their first big test of the conference schedule when the head to Ardrey Kell high school to battle the Knights Wednesday 12/11. We will need to be on top of our game to improve to 4-0.
Friday and Saturday we host our annual Al Kessie Invitational. Friday Night and through Saturday our varsity team will compete and the JV will be in action Saturday only. We will need all hands on deck both days to make sure the tournament runs smoothly.
