Please take about 15 minutes to watch Coach Peralta's message for our entire football program below. Once he sent this out, I decided not to do a separate meeting. https://youtu.be/zkWsjqk6GVc As he states, we are currently in a holding position for our season until January 4 at the minimum. We will start team activities as soon as we get the ok from our district. If necessary, games will be eliminated down to a league schedule to make up for lost time. Without being able to do activities as a team, it is very important that all players use what they have been taught to this point to continue to train the physical, mental, and social/emotional aspects of their personal well-being. WE MUST "STAY READY" SO WE AREN'T CAUGHT TRYING TO "GET READY" IN JANUARY! Physical Training- 1. Continue to increase upper and lower body strength by doing workouts that we have learned whether on the field without weights (see Hudl videos) or with weights if you are able to (Upper Body = bench, deadlift and RDL. Leg day = squat, front squat and push press). 2. Do some ab/core work every workout. Leg day = situps (knees bent, legs straight). Upper Body = Planks (pushup, front, both sides) 3. Continue to improve your speed and conditioning. (Leg day = 40 yard sprints, Upper body = 60/100 (half gassers)/300 yard shuttle runs) 4. Get plenty of sleep, water, and healthy meals throughout the day. Mental Training - 1. Take time to finish your academic studies strong. Ask teachers for extra credit opportunities over the break. 2. Study your Hudl playbooks for Offense and Defense. I will be having a couple of Zoom meetings where we review film and schemes over the break after Christmas. 3. Watch football games on TV and focus on players who play your positions. Social/Emotional Training- 1. Enjoy as much time with your family as you are able to. "Be where your feet are" and avoid thinking about outside negative factors when you are together. 2. Using the same protocols as we do for our team activities (health screening, small groups, etc.) with your families' permission, try to get together with teammates to workout, do drills, throw a ball around, etc. If you are going to play video games (try to limit this) connect with teammates and play together. Try to do this with teammates you live by and with teammates you perhaps don't know so well. You can use the Hudl messenger to connect with teammates. It is important we build relationships together as a team even when we can't do organized activities. Please message me if you have any specific questions. Players can use Hudl, parents can reply below and I will initiate a private message with you in Blast, or you can always email me [email protected] I wish all families a winter break where they can create special moments together that carry us above any difficulties we have faced this year. Happy Holidays, Coach Kirschman
