Last Dance World Series Fundraiser

When the Covid19 pandemic wiped out the 2020 season, a group of coaches began brainstorming ideas about the possibility of somehow, someway, giving kids especially members of the senior class a chance to get back on the field one last time. Thus, The Last Dance High School World Series was born. At the onset of the tournament we envisioned a 64 team type bracket like the NCAA format. We had no idea that within weeks it would grow into a 222 team state tournament. We got creative and devised a pool play format so we didn’t have to turn any team who wanted to participate away. However, in order to maintain safety protocols, assure temperature checks, and provide the proper PPE we had to hire a trainer for every game at every site across the entire state. The more teams we accepted into the tournament, the more our costs skyrocketed. We also contracted several minor league stadiums so the tournament could be played in a first class manner while accounting for social distancing. Those venues also added to our rising costs. While we remain grateful to our corporate sponsors there were some private donors who stepped up behind the scenes and covered all expenses that exceeded our sponsorship. It is now time to step up and repay them for what they did in helping 4,500 NJ baseball players get back on the field. Please support our cause in trying to reach our fundraising goal of $25,000.

About Us

The Last Dance committee is a three member panel including the mastermind behind the tournament and current St. Joseph’s Metuchen head coach Mike Murray, Millburn head coach Brian Chapman, and area scout John Kroger. The committee worked tirelessly to bring Coach Murray’s idea to fruition and actualize what became the single largest high school tournament ever held.
