Apollo JROTC Fundraiser
The SEA HAWK Unit APOLLO High School was established in 1972 under the leadership of Commander Troy Ray. The unit has contributed to the graduation of 4,800 plus students over its 47 year history. The unit has on numerous occasions been recognized as an Honor Unit, Unit Achievement, or Distinguished Organization. In 1991, under the leadership of Lieutenant Commander Terry Tassin, Apollo NJROTC was recognized as the Outstanding NJROTC in the United States. Today, the SEA HAWK NJROTC Unit is under the Leadership of LCDR(ret) William McCammon and MCPO(ret) Wendell Manuwa. Our focus is to guide young adults to achieve higher education, gain leadership skills and to instill these goals: Promotes Patriotism Develops informed and responsible citizens Develops respect for constructed authority Develops leadership potential Promotes high school completion & higher education Promotes community service Develops a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline, and leadership Promotes an understanding of the basic elements and need for national security Provides information on the military services as a possible career Provides an alternative to gangs & incentive to live healthy and drug free. Please take a few minutes and help us meet our goal. All donations are for student / extracurricular activities, military ball and various leadership academies.
About Us
Daily operation of the unit is administered by Cadet company officers and their staff. The unit has approximately 120 students enrolled in the program annually. The Unit has the following co-curricular teams: Color Guard, Drill Team without Arms, Drill Team with Arms, Air Rifle Team, Orienteering Team, Community Action & Service Team, and Academic Team. Also, there is an Executive Council which oversees club fundraising and social activities. Cadets participate in field trips which include: Orientation Trips to Naval bases, Basic Leadership Training Camp, visits to military bases, tours of ROTC Units at state universities, Navy Leadership Academy, Sail Academy, MOWW Leadership Conference, and cruises aboard U. S. Navy ships when available. Other Unit activities include: Navy Birthday Celebration, Annual Military Ball, Drill Meets, Parades, Orienteering Day outings, Community Service Activities, Company Overnight Leadership Campouts, Company parties, NJROTC Great Skate Night, Unit Mixer, Parent Social, and much more!
