Mike Suguro
Head Coach
(206) 455-1780
Hello, my name is Mike Suguro and I am currently the Head Baseball Coach at Kentlake Highschool. I graduated from Kentridge High School in 2012, and lettered 3 years in baseball and football. After high school, I went on to play baseball at the University of Hawaii Hilo. I was a 2 year starter, and won a gold glove as a catcher my senior year in 2017. Upon graduation I had the opportunity to stay in Hawaii, and coach. My first year I was a volunteer assistant, working as the assistant pitching, and catching coach. My next two years, I was a paid assistant coach, as well as being the sports performance coach specializing in weight training and nutrition. In this role I had the opportunity to call pitches, and develop game plans and scouting reports. I also had the chance to travel and recruit at the high school. and junior college level in the Southern California, and Arizona area. After the college season was canceled due to the pandemic in 2020 I made my way back home to Washington. I was hired shortly after as the Head Baseball Coach at Franklin High School for the 2021 baseball season. As an inner city school in Seattle, we were able to have the first winning record in 15 years, and won more games than the previous 5 years combined. I chose to resign after 1 year, and was quickly hired as the Head Baseball Coach at Kentlake High School. After graduating 8 seniors, and losing 1 other Varsity contributor, we were not expected to compete in a tough 4A/3A division. However we were able to finish 3rd in 3A NPSL, and made the playoffs, after only having 3 returning Varsity Players. We look forward to continuing our growth in 2023 with a reloaded roster led by returning varsity starters David Pardey Jr, and Xavier Yearby, plus many more underclassmen that earned their stripes last year as full time varsity starters.
