Coach Downey has over 22 years of experience coaching cheer. She has coached all levels of cheerleading, including recreational, school, and all-star cheerleading. As a former gymnastics coach, all-star gym owner, and retired military Physiology and Human Performance instructor, Coach Downey is very goal-oriented and focused on each athlete's skills and progressions of each individual athlete. Outside of personal athletic skills, she concentrates on teamwork, integrity, responsibility, and sportsmanship. She sets very high standards for every athlete on the team. Coach Downey was a two-time head coach of The United World Games Team USA cheer team. She has taken handpicked athletes from all over the US to perform for the opening ceremonies at the United World Games in Austria. She is certified through multiple organizations, including the US All-Star (USASF) and International All Star Federations (IASF), USA Gymnastics, National Alliance of Youth Sports, American Associations of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators, Youth Cheer and Dance Alliance, National Youth Sports Coaches Association and the National Federation of High School Sports. She is one of only two cheerleading coaches in Florida with Accredited, Certified Interscholastic Coach credentialing and an NFHS Level 3 Coach certification.
