Coach Greear is in his 7th season with the Huskies and has been involved in coaching in Eagle County for many years. Coach Greear strives to help each player recognize the steps and the effort it takes to become the most successful player and teammate that they can be, on and off the field. Mike was raised in Loveland, Colorado and graduated from Loveland High School. After a successful high school career, Coach Greear went on to play for NAIA Hall of Fame coach Gil Stafford at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. While at Canyon, Mike was a member of the 1981 and 1982 NAIA National Championship teams. He then transferred and finished out his collegiate baseball career at Colorado Mesa University playing for coach Byron Weihe on two RMAC Championship teams and one District 7 Champion in 1983 and 1984, narrowly missing his third trip to the NAIA College World Series in 1984. Coach Greear moved to Vail in the summer of 1984 to continue his love of playing baseball for the Vail Merchants, a member of the Colorado Collegiate League, where he played for three more summers.
Matt grew up in Pearland, just outside of Houston, Texas. In 2013 he graduated from the High School of Performing and Visual Arts, where he studied music, played French Horn, Trumpet, and enjoyed playing in Jazz and Orchestra. While his High School’s primary focus was the study of the arts, growing up Matt participated in club leagues playing Soccer, Running Cross Country and Long Distance in Track and Field. Fitness and endurance have been a passion for him ever since. After Graduation from HSPVA he moved to Austin, Texas and attended Concordia University Texas where in May of 2017 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education with a specialization in Youth Ministry. Immediately after college, he moved to the Vail Valley for an Internship with Gracious Savior Church in Edwards, Colorado. The internship would serve as a catalyst that would strike a match in Matt for walking alongside high schoolers into a hopeful future. After a one-year Internship, Gracious Savior hired Matt full time to lead music and youth throughout the valley, which he is now proud to call his home. Matt has a passion for competitive sports and a heart to serve others, especially the youth of the valley. His motivation for coaching comes from remembering how essential mentorship was for him throughout his High School, College, and professional years. Selfless mentors and persistent coaches have made major contributions to his life, and now he is honored to pass those opportunities on to the next generation. Although this will be the start of his coaching career he hopes that it will be the beginning of an incredible journey of walking with athletes, helping them become a better version of themselves than they ever imagined was possible.
