Vanden Head Football Coach

I have been a teacher at Armijo for 7 years in the Special Education Department. I have coached at Armijo for 6 years as an Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator. My goal as a coach is to help the student-athletes in the Football Program to understand what's important now so that they are prepared to pursue their life's task when they are done playing football. As a former D-1 lineman, I know what it takes to make it to make earn a college scholarship; however, I understand that all only a small percentage of our athletes will earn that scholarship. I aim to provide the athletes with a environment and culture rooted in character, commitment, grit, and perseverance where they are taught how to be a better person; they are shown how to devote themselves to something bigger than them as individuals; they are encouraged to go harder when things get tough; and they are motivated to learn from their mistakes to improve their overall well-being.
