I am excited to take the position of head basketball coach and history teacher at California High. I come to Cal after 21 years of coaching and 18 years of teaching. I taught the previous 18 years at Warner Middle School in Westminster, CA, where I taught Language Arts, History and PE. As a coach, I come to Cal from Saddleback HS in Santa Ana where I was head coach the last three years. Saddleback was a special place to me as that is where I graduated from in 1991. Prior to Saddleback I served as a varsity assistant at Ocean View HS in Huntington Beach for a season. From 1999-2013, I was head coach at Bethel Baptist HS in Santa Ana where I was also Athletic Director from 2004-2013. My wife is also a history teacher; currently she teaches at Brethren Christian HS in Huntington Beach. Our daughter recently graduated from Chapman University with a BS in Kinesiology. The highlights of my coaching career include winning league titles in 2000 and 2012, taking the program at my Alma Mater and most importantly, getting the chance to coach my daughter for 3 of her 4 years in high school. I have a mental list of who my favorite players have been, and she is by far at the top of my list. I hope that you will consider partnering with us this year by donating to Cal Basketball. Some of the needs we have include new equipment and balls, uniforms and basic essentials of running a basketball program including tournament entry fees and team events. In addition, a portion of your donation will help the Condor player that you are supporting to pay for his personal gear for this season.
