Sirr Guy Shakir is Castaic High School's new head football coach for the 2023 season. Aside from his extensive coaching background, Coach Shakir has been a highly regarded, respected, and student-centered teacher in the Hart District for over 20 years. Coach Shakir has a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and a Master of Science in Kinesiology. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Coach Shakir, and his family have resided in Santa Clarita since 1998. From a football perspective, Coach Shakir brings over 25 years of coaching experience to Coyote Football. He has coached at the youth, high school, and junior college levels. Locally, he has coached at Canyon High and College of The Canyons. Before coming to Castaic High, Coach Shakir served as the secondary coach at COC. While at Pierce College, he was the Defensive Coordinator, Assistant Head Coach, and Linebackers Coach. Before coaching at the junior college level, he was the Defensive Coordinator at Van Nuys High and coached defensive backs/running backs at Canyon High School. He has also volunteered throughout the Santa Clarita Valley's youth football programs coaching the SCV Wildcats and SCV Grizzlies.
