San Jose, CA — The Vikings battled the Bellarmine College Prep Bells for the CIF NorCal D4 Championships but came up short Saturday night 1-3 (25-23,20-25,24-26,13-25). The Vanden Boys volleyball team finished the season with an overall record of 27-13. The 2nd round of sections is the furthest the team has ever played so for the Vikings to play not only in the Section Finals but also the NorCal Finals was quite an accomplishment. In the Championship match, Christian Ting had 13 kills, Dylan Hoang had 8 digs, Dallas Pabon had 6 kills, Setter Tavas Spencer had 36 assists and 2 aces, William Iheanacho had 7 kills and Andre Aguilera had 9 kills.

Fairfield, CA — The #20 SJS Vikings defeated the #10 SJS Monterey Trail Mustangs 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-21) in a showdown between the Metropolitan Conference League's top two teams. It was a huge night for the Vanden Senior's final home league game. The Vikings are graduating 9 seniors from this team. For the senior class - Setter Ryan Castro had 3 sets and 1 dig, OH Christian Ting had 10 kills, 5 digs, DS Jaiden Borja had 3 digs, Libero Dylan Hoang logged 13 digs, OH Andre Aguilera had a season high 20 kills, 9 digs, MB William Iheanacho had 9 kills and 6 blocks, Oppo Dallas Pabon had 3 kills and a block. Oppo Kaleb Munstermann chipped in 3 kills. Serving specialist Jared Santos had an efficient night of serving with only 1 error on the night and great passing. The Vikings travel to Laguna Creek on Tuesday the 23rd to face the #3 Metro team.

Sacramento, CA — The Vanden boys volleyball team is alone in 2nd place in the Metro league after another league win against Kennedy High School 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 26-24). It was an efficient night of offense as the Vikings hit .382 for the night. Senior OH Andre Aguilera had 7 kills on 11 attempts, 5 digs, and 3 aces. Senior OH Christian Ting had 9 kills for the night with only 1 error. Jr Setter Tavas Spencer logged 22 assists with 2 kills and an ace. Senior libero Jaiden Borja led the team's defense with 8 digs to go with his 2 aces. Jr MB Ifeanyi Onwuazombe had 8 kills with only 1 error to go with his 3 blocks. The Metro #2 Vikings host #1 Monterey Trail on Thursday for Senior Night.

Fairfield, CA — Vanden had a very balanced night of offense with 9 players logging 2-4 kills. Middle blockers Dallas Pabon, William Iheanacho, and Ifeanyi Onwuazombe each had 4 kills. Ryan Castro and Tavas Spencer shared the offense with 13 and 12 assists respectively. Vincent Mercado led the defense with 5 digs while Jonah Victorio, Andre Aguilera, and Kyle Yabut each had 4 digs. The Vikings travel to Kennedy High on Tuesday then host Monterey Trail Thursday for Senior Night.

Sacramento, CA — The Vikings boys volleyball team moved into second place in the Metropolitan League with a 3-1 victory at Grant Union High School (25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16). OH Andre Aguilera had an efficient night hitting with 11 kills with only 1 hitting error, 14 digs, and 2 aces. OH Christian Ting added 17 kills and 19 digs. Setter Tavas Spencer had 36 assists and 4 digs, and 2 aces

CA — With 3 players out due to illness along with Jr. Setter Tavas Spencer and Senior Libero Dylan Hoang not at 100%, the Vikings were able to defeat a less experienced El Cerrito team. Senior OH Christian Ting led the Vikings with 17 kills, 7 aces, and 3 digs. Senior OP Andre Aguilera had a great defensive game with 3 blocks and 7 digs.

Rio Linda, CA — The Vanden Boys Volleyball team beat the Rio Linda Knights 3-2 in a battle to the very end. Despite missing starting setter, Jr. Tavas Spencer due to illness, the Vikings were able to defeat Rio Linda in 5 sets. Libero Dylan Hoang stepped into the setter position and through 5 sets logged 44 assists and 3 aces. The Vikings missed Dylan's passing but were able to overcome the Knight's comeback. Senior OP Andre Aguilera came back from an off day the game before and had a team high 13 kills with a 31% hitting percentage. Senior MB William Iheanacho chipped in 12 kills with a 33% hitting percentage to go along with 2 blocks. The Vikings play El Cerrito in another non-league game on Monday.

Fairfield, CA — The returning SDL champs opened their season Friday night with a win vs cross town rivals Vacaville Christian. The Vikings started the game slow, losing the first set before getting in the grove and winning the next 3 sets. Senior and returning all-leaguer Andre Aguilera had an efficient night hitting .350 with 13 kills to go along with his 3 aces. Senior Dylan Hoang also contributed 13 kills hitting .330 with 4 aces. Junior setter Tavas Spencer has 40 assists with 2 aces.

Vacaville, CA — Vanden Boys Volleyball (25-5/11-0) remain undefeated in league play as they defeated local rivals Vacaville Christian. Jr Middle Blocker Andre Aguilera was outstanding at the service line with 9 aces to go along with his 5 digs and 3 kills. Jr. MB/OH Christian Ting led the team with 11 kills, 4 aces, 5 blocks, and 4 digs. Sr Op Kenji Arnold also helped the offense with 8 kills and 6 digs.

Lincoln, CA — The league leading Vikings defeated 3rd place Twelve Bridges in Lincoln 3-1. Jr Captain Christian Ting had a game high 14 kills, 5 blocks and 5 aces. Jr MB Andre Aguilera added 6 digs and 7 kills in only 11 attempts. Senior OP Kenji Arnold had a great defensive game with 12 digs, adding 4 aces and 5 kills. Sophomore setter Tavas Spencer had 32 assts and 5 kills. Vanden travels to Bear Valley Thursday.

Wheatland, CA — The Vanden boys volleyball team won their league opener 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) against a strong Wheatland Union team. All around defense was outstanding from the Vikings. Christian Ting led the team with 16 kills. Andre Aguilera had another strong performance with 9 kills and two digs. Tavas Spencer spread the offense around racking up 31 assists, two digs, and a block. Dylan Hoang played a consistent game in all rotations with 7 kills and 2 digs and solid serve receive. The Vikings play in the Deer Valley Invitational on Saturday.

Benicia, CA — The returning SDL champions started their season off with a 3-0 victory in non-league competition against Benicia High School. Junior middle blocker Andre Aguilera led the Vikings with 8 kills, 2 digs, and a block. Sophomore outside hitter Kyle Yabut added 5 kills, 3 aces, and 2 digs. Returning All League junior Christian Ting came in strong with 4 kills and 2 aces. Sophomore setter Tavas Spencer controlled the offense with 16 assists. The Vikings start league play against Bear Valley Tuesday, Feb 28th.
