High Point, NC — This was a trip we had waited for quite some time now. A trip to North Carolina to play in a 14u tournament. It was billed as DMV vs NC, the hype was there. Teams from NC were hyped and ready to play us. The line up from NC had what was said to be some of the best the state had to offer and they wanted to play us. This tournament was months in the making, several hours of phone calls, several text messages back and forth between teams and coaches. The promise of a huge turnout was highly anticipated. The idea of 1st and 2nd place trophies added to the hype of playing in this tournament. A day before we were scheduled to leave we had gotten the word that several teams had decided to back out of this tournament because they had looked us up on Youtube now and did not want any parts of the Slime Mob. Unbelievable the amount of teams that had dropped off. It was still a few left that we could do a smaller version of the tournament. We were ready to face any team that was willing to step on the field. A long bus ride Thursday evening into the night when we finally arrived in NC around midnight, everyone was tired from the ride and ready to relax and get comfortable. Friday arrives its game day ready for game one later that night, all day the boys were anxious with anticipation ready to show NC how Dc football is played. We had already heard that teams were ducking us but we had no idea what we were about to face. The game was scheduled for 7:30, we arrived to the game location. The field was all set up refs were even there ready to go. Time passes it is now around 7:15 and no signs of the other team anywhere, phone calls were made to them with no avail. 7:30 game time arrives and still no team, the boys were beginning to become frustrated along with the coaches and tournament organizer as he had not received word the team was not coming. We waited along with refs another few minutes and it was decided the game was a forfeit and they were not going to show or answer the phone. Disappointed and a bit angry we head back to the rooms in panic mode as we wondered was our next opponent for tomorrow going to show. Later on that night we received a call saying the opponent for tomorrow had an injured player and was not able to compete tomorrow. That would mean another game forfeited and not played, we did not travel that far for nothing. Another team that had cancelled on us for a regular season game and game scheduled in this tournament was arriving for sure. We was not going to come this far and not play a game. The actual game and time was not mad official until Saturday around noon, after some time adjustments and coaches from both teams coming up with a time for sure, it was STAMPED!! No more ducking us from this team its time to ball.......
