This week we begin our “League Season” schedule. All records to this point are thrown out and we get the opportunity to compete for the Ivy League Championship vs. Rancho Verde, Heritage, and Temescal Canyon. Our team played their best game last week and are accomplishing many small victories on and off the field. I have challenged our players to win in between the “Red Lines” of our school doorways by being focused/not distracted, doing their best (excellence), and doing things the right way(integrity). I have also challenged the team to win in between the “White Lines” of the football field by playing as hard as they can for their teammates, family, and school community, having fun or supporting their teammates between each play, and developing a competitive Tiger instinct to finish every single play, every single drive, and every single game with mental and physical intensity. We have started together and stayed together to this point and now we will finish strong together as we “Close the Gap” between what we are and what we can become - Champions! The season is going by fast, remember to enjoy the special moments in our lives that we are experiencing together. Here are some announcements for this week: - This week's game is HOME on WEDNESDAY!!! 9/29/21 at 4PM!!! -We will practice on Monday and Tuesday in full gear until 5-530. -Players will report straight to the locker room for 6th period on Wednesday to dress for the early game. -We will have a short practice on Thursday in Shoulder pads, helmet, and black shorts until 4-430. -We have received game sock orders. Players may purchase a pair of game socks this week for $8. We would like to have all players wear these in all games for the rest of the season. We won’t be able to do that until everyone has matching socks. -We have received “spirit pack” shirts and shorts. Players may purchase them this week(I will confirm price ASAP). All players will now be expected to have a red or white shirt and black shorts in their locker to wear for team activities starting next week. - Payment for items can be made at the Tuesday night booster meeting or after practice later this week. I will update with date, time, and prices asap. -We will do team activities during 6th period only on Friday. Athletes will be released from school at the bell. -Please continue to do everything you can to avoid spreading Covid 19 or being put on modified quarantine. Wear masks at all times inside. Complete your SWAY app Medical check in every day. Some players are telling me that they got their phone taken away, etc. Please do your athlete’s check in each day if this is the case. If you need to sign up for the app again use the team code 14194. Do not report to school with any Covid symptoms or if you have been in close contact with them. Bring your own water to all team activities. Please communicate with the school/nurse when returning from modified quarantine or other illness related absences. - Parents and players, please remember that we are STUDENT athletes. Players are expected to complete homework after practice or during 6th period during study hall. Any player who becomes academically ineligible (2 Fs, less than 2.0 GPA, or Multiple Unsatisfactory Citizenship marks)will not play in any games remaining after official progress reports come out on October 13th. - Although illness/Covid related absences will be exempt from team contract policies(not dressing for games, removal from team, etc.) understand that it is the job of the coaching staff to determine which players are most fit and ready to play a game. If your athlete has missed multiple practices (even though out of their control), we have a responsibility to make sure they are prepared and ready to compete in a live setting. Players are expected to be at all team activities unless communication has been made with the head coach through Blast, Hudl, or email ([email protected]) Go Tigers! Beat the Mustangs! -Coach Kirschman
