Due to several unforeseen circumstances, we will continue to combine and practice as a modified Frosh/Soph. team (subject to change). The reality is that we are in the minority of programs that can field Varsity, JV, and Freshman football teams whereas other teams don’t have that ability due to low program numbers, illness, and injury. It was an awesome week to practice and play together with the 2nd year players so they can mentor our players on and off the field. I look forward to watching these players work to become champions together for the years to come. The season is going by fast, remember to enjoy the special moments in our lives that we are experiencing together. Here are some announcements for this week: -This week's game is ***AT HOME*** on WEDNESDAY 10/13/21 at 4 PM (subject to change:) -***Players will report straight to the locker room for 6th period on Wednesday to get dressed for the game. *** -We will practice on Monday&Tuesday in full gear until 530-6 PM. -We will watch film or do a light practice in spirit packs and helmet during 6th period on Thursday and Friday. Players will be released near the bell on those days. -***Players wear Red Jerseys on Home game days. *** -Please see me if you were unable to get game socks/red shirts/black shorts. I also have a list of families who are owed small denominations of “change” from their purchase. Players are expected to wear matching game socks for the rest of the season. Players are also expected to have red shirt/black shorts with them for team activities. -All parents please support and reinforce our program theme and mission of excellence and integrity. We have had multiple players be disciplined for their actions due to poor behavior and bad decisions, such as being a distraction in class, hanging with students who don’t have goals or accountability on campus at lunch and break, acting inappropriately at school events off campus, wasting time in our team study hall, losing their personal belongings in the locker room, not following practice/team rules, and not ensuring the safety of others on the field. I don’t lose 1 second of sleep over losing a football game. However, I lose many nights of sleep when my team, who I care for like my own children, does not represent the values I have modeled and taught them. -Please continue to do everything you can to avoid spreading Covid 19 or being put on modified quarantine. Wear masks at all times inside. Complete your SWAY app Medical check in every day. Some players are telling me that they got their phone taken away, etc. Please do your athlete’s check in each day if this is the case. If you need to sign up for the app again use the team code 14194. Do not report to school with any Covid symptoms or if you have been in close contact with them. Bring your own water to all team activities. Please communicate with the school/nurse when returning from modified quarantine or other illness related absences. - Parents and players, please remember that we are STUDENT athletes. Players are expected to complete homework after practice or during 6th period during study hall. Any player who becomes academically ineligible (2 Fs, less than 2.0 GPA, or Multiple Unsatisfactory Citizenship marks)will not play in any games remaining after official progress reports come out on October 13th. - Players are expected to be at all team activities unless communication has been made with the head coach through Blast, Hudl, or email ([email protected]). Non-illness (flagged in Sway) related absences will follow our progressive accountability plan outlined in the team contract. Go Tigers! Beat the Patriots! -Coach Kirschman
