Double Dip

The temperatures plummeted in game 2 of the doubleheader against Davison, but not nearly enough to cool the Bobcats' bats as they blew past the lifeless Cardinals 13-0 in the nightcap. Nate Helms (SR, Northville commit) got the start and boasted 3.0 IP with no runs and 1 hit while striking out 5. Braxton McVicar (SR, Albion commit) slammed the door shut in the 4th striking out the side and putting wraps on the dominating sweep over rival Davison . Many contributed to the offensive show, highlighted by sophomore Nathan Fidelino's pair of doubles driving in 3 runs. Grand Blanc moves to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the SVL. The Bobcats will next play at 7pm on Saturday (4/16) vs Rochester at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI.

GB Cruises

Grand Blanc cruised past rival Davison 13-3 in their conference opener. David Lally (SR Notre Dame commit) put on a show for the the fans and MLB scouts alike as he took the mound and tossed 4.0 innings of scoreless and hit-less baseball while fanning 8 and walking 2. He helped himself offensively too with a pair a hits (3B, 1B, 2 RBI), but the big blast belonged to Nate Helms (SR Northwood commit) as he bombed a 3-run HR over the center field fence staking the Bobcats to a 4-0 lead at the end of the 1st and propelled them to the blowout victory. Cisco Dionne (SR) flashed his leather at SS and tacked on a couple hits to go with a walk and RBI.

Dramatic Finish

The defending State Champions picked up where they left off last season in winning with style. The show began with the unveiling of new uniforms and capped by the monstrous extra innings walk-off 3-run bomb by Senior Seth Austermann as the Bobcats defeated Clarkston 4-1. Austermann also had an earlier triple in the game as he and senior David Lally both recorded 2 hits in the win. The Bobcats allowed 6 different pitchers to toe the rubber in the early season non-conference game. Lally, Gabe Morrow (Sr), Nate Helms (Sr), Braxton McVicar (Sr), Avery Kordyzon (Jr) and Cisco Dionne (Sr) combined to only allow 1 run and 2 hits over 8-innings. The Bobcats are next scheduled to open SVL conference play on Thursday (Apr. 14) at rival Davison with the doubleheader beginning at 4:00pm.

Spring Trip Conclusion

The 2022 Grand Blanc Bobcats put a bow on their Spring Trip with one last unofficial scrimmage with Okemos. The Bobcats pushed 6 runs across compared to Okemos' 3, but all players, coaches, and fans were a winner as they basked in the sun for a final few moments before returning North for some cold weather baseball. The 2021 MHSAA Division 1 Champs will officially start their 2022 season and defense of their title on Thursday, April 7th when they host the Clarkston Wolves for a DH starting at 4:00pm at Joe Pitock Field.
