Stuarts Draft Varsity Wrestling Fundraiser

Thank you for supporting our program and our community. Priority #1 Provide a practice uniform that includes a short sleeve t-shirt and a pair of shorts at no cost to the athletes. Provide a match day sweat suit including hoodie and sweatpants, so that all wrestlers look unified on match days. Priority #2 Many years, we take a trip as a team travel to an overnight, multi day tournament. While we are not taking a trip this year, the money we raise this year will help fund trips in the future. Priority #3 If we raise enough money this year, $10k, we will host a wrestling camp during the summer.

About Us

Hello, my name is Abe Mikell, and I am in my thirteenth year as the head wrestling coach at Stuarts Draft High School. We are a high school wrestling program in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. When I became the head coach, I had two goals. The first was to increase participation at the high school level by starting a youth program that serves the elementary and middle schools here in Stuarts Draft. Each year, our participation numbers have increased, and in 2014 we started a youth wrestling club for 6th - 8th graders. This year, we have a middle school “club” team of 6-8 graders, as well as a club for elementary aged wrestlers. My second, and most important, goal is to use wrestling as a means of teaching young people to live their lives with a positive attitude, discipline, determination, and integrity. We talk about these core principles often as a team.
