Ionia's Season Ends in First Round of Playoffs

FOREST HILLS EASTERN- Ionia’s (5-5, 4-3) season ended with a 27-0 loss to Forest Hills Eastern. Ionia went 3 and out on their opening series and got FHE into a 4th and 15 that they were able to convert and eventually took a 6-0 lead. Ionia threw an interception on their next series that led to another FHE touchdown to make the score 13-0. Forest Hills Eastern was able to get another score with two minutes left in the first half. Ionia was able to move the ball down the FHE six yard line before half with help from a long pass play from Tucker Jr. to Spencer Tooker. Tooker finished with 55 yards receiving on four catches. The game remained 20-0 until the final five minutes of the game when FHE got a final score to complete the game at 27-0. Spencer Tooker led Ionia with six tackles and Hunter Barker added five more. Parker Siedleman and Travier Tucker each had pass deflections for Ionia.

Ionia Survives Tough Conditions and Tough Opponent for Homecoming Win

Ionia was able to gain its forth win of the season in very poor weather conditions. Ionia got an early stop after St. Johns drove the ball down to the five. Travis Tucker Jr. then scored on the next play on a 95 yards run. Tristian Ciganick converted the two point play to make it 8-0. The scored remained until the 3rd quarter when St. Johns got a safety to make it 8-2. Both teams struggled to move the ball as conditions worsened. Ionia got a score very late to put the game away at 16-2. Spencer Tooker led Ionia's defense with 12 tackles and Wolton Sandborn added two sacks. Ionia travels to Lakewood for the regular season finale on Friday.

Ionia drops close one at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE- Ionia (2-3, 2-2) dropped a close one to Charlotte 23-22. Charlotte scored on the first play of the game to take a 8-0 lead. Ionia scored 16 points in the second quarter on a Travis Tucker Jr. touchdown run and conversion. Tucker scored again on a 25 rush. The conversion was no good to give Ionia a 14-8 lead. Ionia was able to get a safety right before half on an Aden Wenzel tackle in the endzone to give Ionia a 16-8 lead. Tucker finished with 128 rush yards and 2 TDs. Charlotte scored two TDs in the third quarter to take a 23-16 lead. Brennan Brownell scored with under five minutes in the 4th quarter to pull Ionia within one, but the two point conversion failed and Charlotte was able to run out the clock. Brownell finished the game with 73 yards rushing. Tucker completed 8 passes for 113 yards and Spencer Tooker had 4 receptions for 54 yards. Tooker added five tackles and Wyatt Erridge and Brennan Brownell each added sacks for Ionia. Ionia travels to Sexton next Friday for a 6:00 start.
