Buena's Freshman lost their first away game 7-21 at Ventura. Quarterback Ryder Bucy connected with Jayden Hodgins down the sideline for a touchdown. Kicker Dylan Ragazzo with a successful PAT to make it 7-14 in the first half.
Bulldogs fall 14-41 at home to an experienced Santa Paula Frosh/Soph squad. Quarterback Ryder Bucy was able to spread it around and hit receivers Jonah Hanlon, Nick Waller, Jayden Hodgins, and Michael Garcia. Hodgins found the endzone on a corner route with a nice catch and run on a pass from Bucy. Waller at QB with a scoring keep around tackle Logan Katley setting the edge and behind lead blocking Chris Slate. Dylan Ragazzo remains steady at kicker, adding both PAT's. The Bulldogs' defense was working hard all day with Angelo Garcia at safety, Jon Cesario at linebacker, and a crew up front including Nate Ramirez, Sammy Olivio, and AJ Bishop all getting in the mix.
Buena Freshman Bulldogs traded a pair of touchdowns with the Newbury Park Panthers and won with a fourth quarter field goal. Bulldogs scored with a rushing touchdown by Jayden Hodgins in the first half and another by Christopher Slate in the second half. The Panthers moved ahead after a 2-point conversion on their second touchdown. Hodgins' speed showed again with a nice return deep into Panthers territory. Kicker Dylan Ragazzo blasted a 35-yd field goal with minutes remaining to put the Bulldogs ahead 17-15. Safety Kaleb Alarcon blocked a last second Newbury Park field goal attempt to secure the win. Go DAWGS!
A late push led to Buena's only score in a 7- 40 loss to visiting Adolfo Camarillo. A quick blitz by linebacker Nick Waller forced a high snap which led to good field position for Buena's offense when they got the ball for their final drive. Quarterback Ryder Bucy connected on a long pass up the middle to receiver Isaiah Coert. After a couple inside runs from within the 5 yard line, running back Nick Waller was able to bounce outside behind blocks from receivers Carter Aubert, Isaiah Coert and Jonah Hanlon.
