Vikings takes sole possession of 2nd in Metro League

The Vanden boys volleyball team is alone in 2nd place in the Metro league after another league win against Kennedy High School 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 26-24). It was an efficient night of offense as the Vikings hit .382 for the night. Senior OH Andre Aguilera had 7 kills on 11 attempts, 5 digs, and 3 aces. Senior OH Christian Ting had 9 kills for the night with only 1 error. Jr Setter Tavas Spencer logged 22 assists with 2 kills and an ace. Senior libero Jaiden Borja led the team's defense with 8 digs to go with his 2 aces. Jr MB Ifeanyi Onwuazombe had 8 kills with only 1 error to go with his 3 blocks. The Metro #2 Vikings host #1 Monterey Trail on Thursday for Senior Night.

Vanden defeats St Patrick St Vincent in 3 sets

Vanden had a very balanced night of offense with 9 players logging 2-4 kills. Middle blockers Dallas Pabon, William Iheanacho, and Ifeanyi Onwuazombe each had 4 kills. Ryan Castro and Tavas Spencer shared the offense with 13 and 12 assists respectively. Vincent Mercado led the defense with 5 digs while Jonah Victorio, Andre Aguilera, and Kyle Yabut each had 4 digs. The Vikings travel to Kennedy High on Tuesday then host Monterey Trail Thursday for Senior Night.

Vanden defeats Grant in league play

The Vikings boys volleyball team moved into second place in the Metropolitan League with a 3-1 victory at Grant Union High School (25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16). OH Andre Aguilera had an efficient night hitting with 11 kills with only 1 hitting error, 14 digs, and 2 aces. OH Christian Ting added 17 kills and 19 digs. Setter Tavas Spencer had 36 assists and 4 digs, and 2 aces

Vanden defeats American Canyon in 3 sets

The Vikings defeated the American Canyon Wolves in 3 straight sets Monday night (25-22, 25-20, 25-19). Yesterday marked the first time in 4 weeks that the Vikings had their full team back after recovering from illness. It was great for team morale to have all of our players on the court and on the sideline. Senior OH Christian Ting had a team high 8 kills, 1 ace, 1 block and 9 digs. Jr. MB Ifeanyi Onwuazombe hit .700 with 7 kills on 10 attempts no errors. Senior MB Dallon Pabon bounced back with 4 kills on only 7 attempts. Senior libero Dylan Hoang had a solid night of serve receive to go with his 15 digs. Setters Tavas Spencer and Ryan Castro combined for 34 assists on a night where the Vikings had an efficient .350 hitting percentage for the night. The Vikings travel to Burbank High today for league competition.
