San Juan Capistrano, CA — It was another great win on Friday night against St Margaret’s. First half was very competitive and ended in 14-14 at half. Coming out of our half time, our team stepped up with tough defensive stops and excellent execution by the offense, controlling the ball and the clock. The staff is very proud of how well they have responded in a big stage with confidence and resilience. Heading into semi-finals, we are up against another tough team in Bellflower, please come out and support the team.

South Pasadena, CA — It was a great first round of playoff win against Yucca Valley. Our offense was dominant with a balance attack with over 300 yards of rushing and over 200 yards of passing. It was also excited to see our defensive linemen being physical and shutting down their run game. We are excited for our next opponent, St Margaret, I believe our team is ready to compete in another huge playoff game. Please come out and cheer for our players and team.

To Be Announced, CA — Thursday Night at the Coliseum was an awesome experience for the players and the program, and to win the game made it sweeter. It was a battle from the beginning of the game, however with the solid ground attack, fierce defense, and few big plays on offense and special teams, we got ahead and never looked back. This week, we face our rivalry, San Marino. It will be another physical, emotional and important game for us, please come out and support.

La Cañada, CA — La Canada was a battle of a game, as we expected. However, we were able to come out with a win with outstanding performance of Conti and Freking connection on the pases, and Hong on a ground attack. The defense came out strong, then La Canada responded with their strong running game, but they needed a passing game at the end, and fell short. I am proud of our boys for competing all the way to the last second of the game. Now we focus on Poly as we secure our second place in Rio Hondo League.

Alhambra, CA — It's great to finish the pre-season with 5-0. Now the real test will begin in League. With that being said, once again our defense looked impressive in stopping Alhambra's offense to under 150 total yards. Our secondary looked great with 2 interceptions by Yipp and Kinney. Linebackers are getting better and better at tackling. And our BIG defensive linemen are constantly putting pressure on our opponents. Richard Conti did an outstanding job filling in for our QB position, managing the offense, throwing, and running. Our unsung heroes, our offensive linemen, did great in protecting the QB and making running lanes for our running back, Jason Hong. Jason had some tough yardages when we needed him to come through, keeping the ball rolling. We have a bye week, where we will use it to prepare for our opening league game against Monrovia. Come out and support and cheer on the Tigers.

Varsity Football
COACH'S CORNER WITH COACH CHI
South Pasadena, CA — We had a very tough game on Friday against Heritage Christian. They were physical and very disciplined team. We started the game well, until our QB had a foot injury and our game plan had to be adjusted. Our QB had difficult time putting pressure on his foot to throw, but he roughed it out by managing the offense and got us the win. Our defense was impressive, another shut out with their aggressive style of play. It all starts out with our defensive linemen who controls the line of scrimmage, which makes it easier for our line backers to read and react. We are becoming a very good tackling team. We have another huge game coming up this week against our longest pre-season rivalry, Alhambra. Look for another physical game between the two teams.

South Pasadena, CA — Last year, we lost to Lincoln because of turnovers and penalties. So our goal was to limit them this year. The Tigers came out focused and started the game well. We passed for 276 yards with 3 TDs, and rushed for 132 yards with 1 TD. There were many players with good performance, it was a total team effort in our victory. Defense had one bad series, but they fixed the problem quickly and shut down their opponent to only 7 points. It was exciting to see all the players showcasing their talents and contributing to the team's goal, to WIN.

Upland, CA — We had a dominant win over Western Christian, in our second round of playoffs. Both offense and defense did their jobs well. We were happy with our running game, they were able to run convincingly and took over the game. Our passing game was very efficient and it created a balanced attack. Our defense held them to only 6 points, they were all over the field stopping their runs and passes, creating a difficult time for our opponents to have any kind of flow on their offense. We are continuing to work hard for our next opponent, Montclair. This game should be a physical game between the two of us. Come out and support your Tiger Football!

Varsity Football
Coach's Corner with Coach Chi
South Pasadena, CA — When both teams beat San Marino, it's a great day. The Varsity had an ending, made for a movie. Down by 17-21 with 3 minutes left in the game. We drove the length of the field, scoring on a pass from Jackson Freking to Grant Huntley for the winning score. Then with less than a minute, our defense had to stop them to seal the win. They were relentless in putting on the pressure on their QB, eventually beating San Marino as the clock ticked zero. Our win was a BIG one, and a collective effort by everyone and their contribution to the win. We met 2 of the 3 goals for the season, beating San Marino, qualifying to CIF playoffs. This Thursday, we are challenged to meet our last goal, to be a League Champ, playing against Monrovia. Come out and support.

South Pasadena, CA — It was an exciting game last week against La Canada. We were up, we were down, and it came down to a field goal to get ahead , then the defense to stop their offense to seal the win. I am very proud of the team and how they fought until the very last second. It demonstrated how resilient our team was by coming back from a deficit and beating La Canada with less than a minute left on the clock. There were some exceptional plays by the Tigers on both sides of the ball. Our next opponent is Polytechnic, and it will be another competitive game.
