Stratford Wins Again

Stratford did quick work of Harding today winning the run-ruled shortened to 5 innings contest 14-0. Stratford was led by pitcher Steward Vega who chucked a one-hitter throwing only 58 pitchers through 5 innings, only yielding 1 base on balls. Big hits on offense were registered by Jason Booker, Eli Jimenez, Julian Rivera, Max Owen & Aiden Gonzalez. Stratford now has an overall record of 7-9. League play resumes Wednesday at 6:00 (with Senior Night festivities beginning at 5:45) versus Immaculare. Stratford’s league record stands at 4-5 with 4 left to play.

Stratford Big Comeback Today !

After quick of a disastrous top of the 1st inning that led league opponent Kolbe Cathedral to jump out to a quick & dishearting 3-0, Stratford first settled down by way of starting pitcher Jack Wiltsie’s ‘no more’ mentality & effort. Wiltsie pitched 6 scoreless innings after that & Stratford finally started to score in the bottom of the 4th after Wiltsie & Josh Tiberio singled the opposite way, Joey Blaine pinch ran for Tiberio, & Wiltsie and Blaine ended up scoring on Max Owen’s sac fly & Eli Jimenez’s two-bagger. Then in the bottom of the 6th after Julian Rivera’s single, Max Owen’s walk, & a passed ball that allowed both runners to advance, Stratford first tied the game on an errant throw back to the pitcher that allowed Rivera to score. Next, the winning run was plated when Max Owen scored on Blake Merfalen’s IF single. Stratford’s record is now 5-9, 4-5 SWC.

ND Prep Gets By Stratford Again

Today’s game was the SWC league game between Stratford the visitor & ND Prep the home team and ND Prep used the combo of some good pitching & the long ball to win 7-2. ND Prep ended up hitting 3 HRs and a couple of doubles during the course of the game. Stratford starter Julian Rivera threw well, but the deeper he went Stratford couldn’t offer further support & ND started to hit some shots over the fence. Stratford didn’t muster enough up at the plate, only got four hits & was hit with the strikeout bug again striking out 8 times with 5 of them looking. Cody Gallant had a big blow in the top of the 2nd, a booming double to CF plating Stratford’s only 2 runs. Josh Tiberio single, Jack Wiltsie double, & Jean Lopez single were the only other Stratford hits. Stratford returns to action Monday at home at 4:15 vs Kolbe Cathedral. That will be a SWC league game. Stratford’s record now stands at 4-9, 3-5 SWC.

Stratford Beats Joel Barlow

Stratford got back to winning ways today beating SWC league opponent Joel Barlow at Penders Field 2-1. Stratford starter Junior Jack Wiltsie was superb going the full seven innings throwing just 81 total pitches. Joel Barlow’s lone run came early in the game on a sac fly. The heroics for Stratford came in the bottom of the 6th when both Max Owen & Julian Rivera got on via walks, Evan Wendland slapped a 1-out 2-strike pitch to LF plating Owen, and, after a 2 out walk by Eli Jimenez to load the passes, Josh Tiberio took an inside pitch off his upper arm scoring Julian Rivera with the winning run. Stratford is now 4-8, 3-4 SWC and returns to action on Friday at 4:00 at ND Prep in another SWC league game.
