Not our day!

This game just didn't start well for us and we never got on track. Perfect example was opening KO Gionni fields the ball cleanly and takes off cleanly but is ruled down as he went down to get the ball. No big deal right, our offense hops on the field and after back and forth penalties got started with a big run by King, behind a great block from Majid. We had several good plays in the opening drive along with a few penalties but the turning point was a great edge rush by Lane caught Max as he was about to throw, leading to a fumble that was returned for a touch down! Adrien made a great tackle preventing the extra point!

Big Freshmen win with only 4 Offensive plays!

Taft freshmen started the game with a bang!! Jerimiah took the opening kickoff for a score after making one great move in the middle of the field he out raced all the pursuers from Curie!!! A great defensive stand aided by a bad snap on the punt resulting in a safety!!! So second kickoff to Taft and Jerimiah did it again! He worked way harder for this one, throwing off tacklers and spinning open to score a second touch down. Defensively the team played well, getting a second safety and a few punts which set up our 4 offensive plays! On the first one a bad snap is picked up by Max on the scramble, he drops his shoulder to knock over a tackler and then sprints into the end zone! The other true offensive play, not a two point attempt came when King took the handoff on our inside run. Majid made a great block taking out two players at the second level to set him free on his cut back inside.

Freshmen Get Their First Win

The freshmen had a great Labor day getting the job done against Elmwood Park. Quarterback Max had a big game with 3 touchdown passes and one touch down run. King and Elijah both had big runs that set up some of these touchdowns. Defensively we saw big hits from Ronny, Jerimiah and Adrien while our WILL linebacker rotation of Timmy, Ethan and Majid were in Elwood Parks backfield all day long. Interceptions by Adrien and Preston came at key moments giving Taft the momentum they needed to secure the victory. Jerimiah, John, Robert and Logan all had productive receiving days. Center Alex really improved his snaps this week leading to the uptick in the offense. Big stops all day from the D-Line.
Preseason Tune UP Complete

Preseason Tune UP Complete

This was a preseason friendly for all the kids to figure out the season. Boys played well but did not score as many points as last years state champion runner up but for us coaches the score didn't matter it was about how they tackled and ran the ball hard throughout the game.
