Caledonia vs. Jenison

The Scots earned their first OK Red victory of the season with a solid all-around performance. Cal got off to a great start despite leaving a few shots short in the first quarter and held Jenison to only two made FT’s for an 8-2 lead. The team caught fire in the second half as Lily Gortmaker scored 14 points in the second period (including two 3-point shots) to help Cal to a 25-11 advantage at the break. Jenison came back in the third period and trimmed the lead to nine going into the 4th quarter, but Caledonia showed some grit and toughness as they extended their lead to a 48-37 victory in the end. Lily Gortmaker had her best game of the season with 25 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Her hustle, energy, and focus set the tone for the team and it was evident that the entire squad was focused and locked in with great energy throughout the contest. Jolie King added six points and six rebounds. Mackenzie Devries added eight points, three assists, and three rebounds. Lakely Bottum totaled six blocked shots in the contest.

Caledonia vs. Hudsonville

The Fighting Scots lost a hard-fought game against undefeated Middleville-TK on Thursday night by the score of 30-37. Offense was stagnant for much of the evening which resulted in struggles for both teams to fill up the scorebook. Caledonia had an 11-9 lead after one quarter and were down 16-15 at halftime. However, a 13-4 run by TK in the 3rd quarter was enough to hold off a Fighting Scot 4th quarter rally and seal the victory. Lily Gortmaker led the way with 9 points. Kathryn Langenburg and Mackenzie Myers each totaled six, and Lakely Bottum had four points and seven rebounds.
