New Fairfield, CT — Newtown High School’s baseball team suffered its first losses in South-West Conference play, falling 4-2 at Bethel on April 23 and 10-1 at Joel Barlow of Redding two days later, then got back into the win column in a high-scoring way with an 11-7 victory at New Fairfield on April 28.

Stratford, CT — Newtown High School’s baseball team kept up its winning ways on the heels of early-May victories over Notre Dame-Fairfield and Stratford as the Nighthawks defeated host Pomperaug of Southbury 7-4 on May 11, beat visiting Weston 7-3 on May 13, then shut out host Bunnell of Stratford 7-0 on May 14 to close out the regular season slate.

Newtown, CT — Newtown High School’s baseball team got back into the win column with its second nail-biter against New Milford this spring. The Nighthawks went on the road and edged the Green Wave 3-2 on May 1; the Hawks won 5-4 in a matchup at home earlier this spring.

Sandy Hook, CT — Coming off a loss in last year’s Newtown High School softball program fundraiser game, the baseball team beat the girls at their own game to even the overall series at a game apiece. More importantly, members of both teams had plenty of fun and $723 was raised for the program. The game was played under the lights at Treadwell Park on a cool April 27 night with on and off light rain.

Weston, CT — A combination of veteran and inexperienced/ new-to-varsity players were expected to contribute, and that has been true to form in the early going for Newtown High School’s baseball team. The Nighthawks, following a couple of losses to begin the season, carried a three-game winning streak into a s scheduled visit to Weston on Wednesday, April 12. Newtown has gotten tremendous pitching during this stretch, posting a shutout and allowing a combined three runs in as many games.
