Bears top the Vikings 8-0 in Tourney action

Jake Sweetnich (5-0) went 6 innings striking out 6 and kept the Viking hitters off balance all evening. Carter Mottice, Eric Freetage and Carson Pastorius all collected two hits on the day. Garrett Wright (3 RBIs) added the exclamation point with a solo homerun in the 6th to capped off the scoring for the Bears. Jackson moves to 21-6 on the season and will play Massillon 2pm in the District Semi-Final game next Tues at Thurman Munson Stadium.

Jake Sweetnich started fast on the mound and finished strong with a complete game 3 hitter. Jake struck out 3 on the night and the defense played to their capabilities all night make play after play. The Bears struck first in the bottom of the 1st with a triple by Garrett Wright which scored Hogan Sedlock. Eric Freetage then had an RBI ground out to score Garrett. Carson Pastorius later in the 3rd with a bases clearing double (3 RBIs) to extend the lead. In the 5th Sedlock scores Nick Zito with a 2 out RBI single. In the 6th after a pair of walks to Benson and Carey, Darek Staudt's pinch hit RBI single and Pastorius then follows with an RBI single. The scorgin on teh night is capped off with a Hogan Sedlock RBI ground out. With the W, your Bears raise their record to 17-4 and 8-1 in Federal League action.

On a cold, soggy night filled with rain and wind the Bears outlasted the Bulldogs to improve to 7-1 in league play & 16-4 overall. Aiden Castile came on in relief to pick up the victory and improved to 2-1 on the season. The offense was led by Hogan Sedlock (3 hits, 3B) and Jake Sweetnich (3 hits)... Eric Freetage, Kyle Benson (2 RBIs), Griffin Cochran & Kyle Andrews (3 RBIs) all added two hits apiece on the night.

Jackson was able to outscore the Knights of Archbishop Hoban 9-5 in a shortened 6 inning game (due to darkness and weather). The Bears struck first in the top half 1st inning scoring Nick Zito on Carter Mottice's RBI double. Garrett Wright followed with a RBI ground out to score Mottice to give the Bears the early 2-0 lead. Starter Griffin Cochran was relieved in the 3rd by Landon Doll who went 3 innings and limited the damage of some free base runners. The Bears tied the game in the 4th (5-5) with RBI singles from Layne Keller and Hogan Sedlock. In the top of the 5th the Bears took the lead for good with a two hit from Eric Freetage and later scores on a Carson Pastorius 0-2 RBI single. Top of the 6th inning Jackson extends their lead as leadoff hitter Hogan Sedlock singles, Kyle Andrews walks and Carter Mottice 1B loads the bases. Garrett Wright and Eric Freetage both have RBI walks and Kyle Benson with a RBI ground out to end the scoring for the Bears. Final line score/stats: 9 Runs 10 Hits, 4 Errors and 8 Left on base and Landon Doll picked up his first varsity win on the season out of the pen.
