Shelton over Cheshire 44-34
Cheshire, CT — Shelton High School Wrestling Gaels defeated the Rams of Cheshire 44–34 in an SCC showdown. Shelton came out strong, opening the match with a pin by Kaleb Whyte followed by a forfeit victory from Eddie Czarneski. At 138 pounds, Sam Markaj pinned and Gabe Saldamendi pinned at 150 pounds. Mike Strazza continued the momentum with a major at 157 pounds, and Ralph Franco delivered a pin at 175 pounds. After a Gaels injury defalt at 190 lbs, the match was tied at 34–34. Tony Nerrette came up big with a major decision at 215 pounds. Chase Galke then sealed the victory with a pin in the heavyweight bout.

New Haven , CT — Final results from the CT State Opens and Girls State Championship are in! SHS Wrestling made history with a record-breaking 10 competitors, including 6 talented girls - Bella Przybylko-cadena, Ella Piccirillo, Anastasia Bazile, Paige Shallow, Yandeh Njie, and Maya White, along with Ike Blomberg, Logan Persson, Baby Joe Vargas, and Chase Galke. Ella capped off an incredible freshman season with an impressive 4th place finish in the state! With 8 out of 10 participants returning next season, the future looks bright! Roll Gaels.

Placing were Ricky Fernandez-4th, Noriel Gonzalez 3rd, Ike Blomberg 2nd and Champion Chase Galke. Chase won all his matches with 1st period pins and was voted Outstanding Wrestler by the SCC coaches.

The Gaels had 13 placers. 6th place Kegan Wills, 5th place Sam Carreno and Tony Nerette, 4th place Mike Strazza, 3rd place Carlos Sanchez, Noriel Gonzalez, Jaggar DeBenedet, 2nd place Baby Joe Vargas, Chase Galke, Logan Persson, Gabe Flores and Ricky Fernandez, and Champion Ike Blomberg. This is Shelton’s 4th tournament win this season, the most in team history!

Redding, CT — The SHS Wrestling Gaels dominated the Battle at the Eagles Nest at Joel Barlow HS with 4 wins to improve to 16-2 on the year. The Gaels defeated Darien 67-12, Suffield 63-17, Weston 54-24 and topped Bethel 54-27 in the championship. Undefeated on the day for Shelton were Mya White 2-0, Carlos Sanchez 3-0, Jaggar DeBenedet 5-0, Noriel Gonzalez 1-0, Ike Blomberg 4-0, Logan Persson 4-0 (4 pins), Mike Strazza 3-0, Ricky Fernandez 4-0 (4 pins) and Baby Joe Vargas 4-0.

Fairfield, CT — Shelton High School Wrestling Gaels outlasted Fairfield Ludlowe 151.5 to 145.5 to claim second place in the Fairfield Warde Invitational Tournament out a field of 17 teams. The Gaels had eight placers, including 6th place Tony Nerette and Ricky Fernandez, 5th place Joe Vargas and Gabe Flores, fourth place Mike Strazza, 2nd place Logan Persson and Chase Galke and tournament champion Ike Blomberg.

Shelton defeats Masuk for first win
Monroe, CT — Shelton field hockey notched their first win of the season with a win versus Masuk by a score of 4 to 2. The Gaelettes were led on defense by excellent goaltending from Scarlet Riccitelli and defenders Megan Renda, Maddie Mosher, Ryan Minder and Mel Kozlowski. Abby Park had two goals, Tori Silva and Lila Kieley had one piece. It was Kiely‘s first varsity goal. The girls will be home on Tuesday hosting Branford at 7 PM.
