Covina, CA — On a night where teachers, seniors, and parents were honored, the Charter Oak Boys basketball team knew they needed a victory to improve their playoff seeding going into post season play. The 70-53 win on Thursday night was a big improvement from the last time CO met West Covina High. The last contest ended in a buzzer beater as the Chargers survived a close call. Charter Oak improves to 18-7, 7-3 and have secured a share of second place in the Hacienda League.

Covina, CA — The Charter Oak Chargers boys varsity basketball team stayed unbeaten on their home court with a win on Friday night. The Chargers beat visiting Diamond Ranch high school by a score of 57-52. Charter Oak moves into a tie for second place with the Panthers. Both teams sit at 4-2 in league play. CO improves to 15-6 overall.

West Covina, CA — After trailing the majority of the game, the Charter Oak chargers boys basketball team found some energy in the last two minutes of their contest versus West Covina High to redeem the evening. The Chargers couldn’t seem to find the right combination of defensive stops and offensive bursts to overtake the Bulldogs until the final couple minutes of play. With just over a minute left the Chargers took the lead for the first time since early in the first quarter. West Covina responded tying up the game at 61 with eight seconds remaining. Charter Oak set up an isolation play to close the game and senior Forward Jermaine Braddock closed out the game with a driving layup as time expired.

Covina, CA — In a must win situation in Hacienda League play, the Charter Oak boys varsity basketball team pulled off a 43-40 victory over the visiting Walnut Mustangs on Wednesday night. After two tough loses to Diamond Ranch and Los Altos on the road last week, the Chargers returned home to stay unbeaten on their home court. Walnut was recently ranked fifth in the San Gabriel Valley by the Tribune.

Pomona, CA — The Chargers lost their league opener to the Diamond Ranch Panthers 56-44. In a low scoring contest, the Chargers never really found their rhythm on Wednesday night. While the charges put themselves in an early hole, they found themselves only down one point early in the fourth quarter. Diamond Ranch, however, had the better fourth outscoring CO 23-14 in the final period. The Chargers were led by Jermaine Braddock with 19 points and and Michael Anyanwu with 9 points. Charter Oak remains on the road Friday to face Los Altos High.

Covina, CA — Charter Oak dominated from start to finish on Saturday night as they played host to a fellow Covina school, Northview High. The Chargers (11-3), posted two 20+ quarters in the first and third periods. In addition, CO held the Vikings to three single digit quarters. The Chargers were led in scoring by Jermaine Braddock with 18 points, Chase Evans with 13 points, and Noah Que with 12 points. Que pushed the tempo of the game, distributed the ball well, and fought for many second chance opportunities on the offensive glass. The Chargers alternating full court and half court pressure paved the way for victory.

Covina, CA — The Charter Oak Chargers varsity basketball team logged their 10th win of the season with a 60-39 victory over La Puente high school at Charter Oak High School on Friday evening. The 10-3 Chargers never really fully got into a good rhythm until the fourth quarter, which they won 20-4. La Puente kept themselves in the picture through three quarters with balance scoring and a persistent interior pressure. Once the Chargers moved the ball well and hit some open shots, the middle opened up and forwards Jermaine Braddock and Chase Evans were able to make an impact underneath. Evans finished with 15 points, while Braddock logged 14 points. To open it up in the fourth, Michael Anyanwu (12 points) hit a three followed by two triples from Reuben Carrillo (6 points). The Chargers stay at home to face Northview High School Saturday night at 6:30pm.

Ontario, CA — The Charter Oak Varsity basketball team improved to 9-3 on the year with a 62-21 victory over Chaffey High School on Wednesday night. The chargers put pressure on early and came out to an 11-1 start that capped off a 21-5 first quarter score. The Chargers were too much for the Tigers throughout led by Chase Evans with 19 points and Jermaine Braddock with 16 points.

San Dimas, CA — After a heartbreaking loss to Mark Keppel High School the night before (48-49), The Charter Oak Varsity basketball team posted a 68-56 victory over Kaiser High School to take 3rd place in the bronze division of the Classic at Damien. The win puts the Chargers record at 8-3 on the year going into a three game week beginning in January.

San Dimas, CA — The 7-1 Chargers held on to defeat the 8-4 Ayala Bulldogs by a score of 55-51. Charter Oak started the game strong and played well through three quarters led by Jermaine Braddock (18 pts), Chase Evans (15 pts), and Michael Anyanwu (14 pts). During that stretch the Chargers played good defense. The Chargers cooled down in the fourth and the Bulldogs scoring heated up led by Kristian Curl who scored 15 of his game high 30 points in the final quarter. In the end, it wasn’t enough for Ayala to overcome as free throws clinched the game for Charter Oak.

La Verne, CA — The Charter Oak varsity boys basketball team opened up tournament play versus South Pasadena High at 6 PM on Tuesday evening at San Dimas High School. The Chargers traded baskets for most of the first three quarters with South Pasadena before pulling away in the fourth quarter to seal the win. The charges were good down stretch led by senior forward Jermaine Braddock who scored 26 points. Senior forward Chase Evans and senior guard Michael Anyanwu tallied 19 and 18 points respectively and Noah Que had 8 points and 8 assists to aid the Charger effort. Chargers won 81-72 and will face Ayala High School at 3PM on Wednesday 12/27 at San Dimas High.
