Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — On 2nd day of Trinity League “Individual” Tournament (doubles included, just means it’s not a team event) all of our girls held heads high and represented our school well.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — In review of the MVP notes, one might think that my “typewriter keys got stuck” or I messed up copy, cutting and pasting (in more modern terms) …. not the case, regarding the use of the word “undefeated.”

JSerra Repeats Defeats OLu 15-3 again.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Orange Lutheran showed up a bit short-handed this afternoon and had to forfeit 3 sets of singles. Even with the extra set of rest for our singles players, nobody was able to upset their top player, who only lost 3 games in 3 sets. That was the only 3 sets the Lancers won, as the Lady Lions swept all doubles: 9 sets to zero. MVP honors go out to all our doubles players for making the 100% club today!

JSerra Routs the Royals 13-5 in Rematch.

Fullerton, CA — We’re getting better! After winning 12-6 in our first match, (getting 3 free sets from a short-handed Rosary team) we won 13-5 after giving up 4 free sets this afternoon, going up to Fullerton Tennis Center with 4 players, eventually 8. So, on court, we basically tied 9-9 in September, but won on court today 13-1 !

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The lopsided score does not tell the whole story. Yes, Santa Margarita is very solid this year, from top to bottom, however, JSerra is the only team to even get a set of the Eagle’s JV team this year in Trinity League.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions took it to El Toro today with a 14 - 1 victory. El Toro was short 1 athlete, so doubles was played on 4 courts for 3 rounds. 3 defaulted singles matches added to 11 of the 12 doubles sets won, gave the Lions the 14 points. Only 1 doubles set was lost.

CA — Wolverines were too much for the Lions this afternoon. They had solid, quick players in both singles and doubles. We had a tiny bit more success at doubles in terms of games won, but not by much.

Over the last few years, HB girls teams have dominated the old Sunset League area and even had a top 4 “open division” team prior to Covid. When varsity teams are that good, JV teams are as well.

Mission Viejo, CA — In dominating fashion, JSerra’s JV team swept the Tartans under the rug this afternoon, thereby evening up their record to 2 wins vs 2 losses. Everybody who played today is an MVP; each joined the 100% club winning all sets played. Olivia Nowlan stepped up to play, and win, a 3rd set for slightly injured Ava Hetland. With the exception of our top 3 singles players, everybody else got 2 full sets in today. Truly a total team effort.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JV girls tennis gets first win of young season, thrashing the Crean Lutheran Saints this afternoon. Visiting Coach Mike agreed to an impromptu all doubles format, as he had 20+ girls in tow and it helped us give our girls a chance to play 2 or 3 full sets today.

Newport Beach, CA — Corona Del Mar won the first round 4-2, but as they subbed liberally, JSerra caught up and finished with a huge, historical victory over the Sea Kings: 12-6! Legitimate head to head first round victories earned MVP honors for Rosalia Ripullo who defeated their best player 6-3 and for Julia Harkins, who defeated their #3 player by that same score. Rosalia was the only Lion to win all 3 sets played this afternoon - an outstanding performance.

Frosh gets rare victory at Sea

Newport Beach, CA — JSerra's Frosh girls traveled to Newport Beach to play Corona del Mar HS and came away with a rare victory vs this heralded program. "They are one of the only programs that have larger numbers than we [normally] have", says KOach Kirk. "They have 3 frosh teams and we were fortunate that their coach subbed generously today." CdM fielded a strong doubles crew in round 1 and the Lions were only able to pick up 2 singles matches, Rosalia at line #1 and Julia at line #3

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Despite the lopsided score, there was some very good tennis going on today. More lopsided than the score, however (and unacceptable!) was the number of MD parents vs JSerra. Where were you all? You’re are missing some great tennis and our girls deserve your support for all the hard work they have been putting in.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Timberwolves came to JSerra this morning and howled off with a lop sided victory. In an all doubles format, we gave them all they could handle on the top 3 courts, forcing 3 tie breakers that could of had us tied going into the 3rd round. 2 of those tight tie breakers were very long 1st round sets. Kaitlyn Donner teamed with Makenna Mason and they both played quite well together.
