Rancho Cucamonga, CA — JSerra's 2024 girls season came to an end today on a blustery wind-driven day at Los Osos High School. Postponed from yesterday due to impossible weather conditions, the Lions traveled up to the base of the mountains at approximately 1200 ft in elevation and battled in the toughest of conditions.

Fountain Valley, CA — The Lions opened up the first round with a 4-2 lead only to drop 5 of 6 sets in round 2. The third round was a tossup which left the Lions with only 8 total.

Laguna Hills, CA — Laguna Hills was kind enough to host JSerra in this late season non-league contest. The Hawks lost five good seniors from last year's team and definitely are in a rebuilding phase.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions opened the 2nd round of Trinity League play with a hard-fought gritty comeback over OLu by way of total game count; 73 to 65! This avenges a previous 8-10 loss at OLu 2 weeks ago.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — SM is a tough place to win, JSerra has done it before but was not as fortunate today.

Huntington Beach, CA — JSerra scored best at the end vs Banning Pilots, this school has a weak team, but they were brave, competed hard, had fun and were polite and we were polite to them!

Huntington Beach, CA — Marina was a very formidable foe as usual. They swept our doubles teams, while Ava and Dylan captured solid victories at lines 2 and 3. As both teams watched intently, Naomi fought her way back from a 2-6 deficit to 6-7, hoping to get into a tiebreaker. Marina's girl bared down and took the last game for an 8-6 set win, 4-2 match win. Naomi played an awesome match, caught some unlucky breaks, this set could've swung either way.

Huntington Beach, CA — JSerra opened up the 2024 Pete Brown tournament with a hard-fought victory over Redondo Union HS, 4-2. This event is round robin pool play, playing an 8-game pro set vs the other 3 teams in your pool: top team from each advance to finals.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra ladies battled today and narrowly missed out on a victory. Our doubles teams picked up six sets as singles added two, vs. two highly ranked Monarchs. KOach Kirk and captains Scarlett and Ellie studied recent results, came up with a good lineup and guessed right. Good plan.

Anaheim, CA — Fielding five freshmen starters, JSerra traveled to Anaheim to face OLu, who fought tenaciously and defeated the Lions 10 to 8.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions received a gift today as Laguna visited at less than full strength. Again, as yesterday, our team's scouting report was not fully funded, so we went with our gut... and stacked doubles. The Breakers #1 girl was unbeatable, so Scarlett and Brookelyn were moved to the other side of the ledger, paired with Ellie and Aerin respectively; both duos swept two sets easily. This left Naomi, Isabell and Ava in singles where they picked up 5 sets. Peyton/Milana and Scarlett/Ellie pick up substitute hat tricks as Kylie/Juliana and Chiara/Elliana were victorious in the 3rd round. Cecelia helped earn a singles hat trick, winning at line#2 in place of Isabella.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Historically, this cross-town match is always close; many 9-9 total game counts have been in this history the rest 10-8 or 8-10.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions opened up the season with a "tougher-than-it-looks" victory over the Oilers in Surf City a couple of weeks ago. Followed by two matches they schedule yearly (think Notre Dame vs Northern Illinois! jk)....Dana Hills and El Toro, to pad our "W" column. A handful of schools that would usually play us, have declined due to the new qualifying rules for CIF playoffs, Rosary drops out of our league so there goes two easy W's. Hanging on to 3 early wins is probably going to get slippery, but the girls are getting stronger every day.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Aliso brought a top-heavy singles squad today, in the form of sisters, and handed the Lions their first loss of the season. Our singles 'triage' today, Scarlett, Brookelyn and Naomi were completely stymied at line 1 and 2, but were able to pick up easy "W's" at line 3. These were their first losses of the season.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Finally, dodging heat flames and smoke; the lady Lions netters were able to get another match in today.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Two years in a row, the Dana v JSerra match was cookin', literally. We were the better chefs in the kitchen today, sweeping 8 of 9 doubles sets and 7 singles. The Dolphins were down this year, their team was much stronger last year, which is strange, because we beat them at their courts 18 - 0.

Santa Barbara, CA — The Lions traveled to Santa Barbara to play the #1 team from the Channel Island league, San Marcos, who earned a 15-2 record this year. KOach Kirk adds, "We never really know the strength of the CI league teams because we do not have 'like' opponents. Two of their girls have 6+ UTR's is all we knew. We traveled far, battled well, ate well and had fun coming home on the bus. Great day to be a LION."

Anaheim, CA — When the Trinity dust cleared, there was a 2-way tie for 3rd place. JSerra was adamnat about playing off this game, which are the Trinity Bylaw Rules; but, OLu wanted a coin flip. No way were we going to settle for a coin flip for a CIF trip, it was understandable why OLu wanted that option.

Mission Viejo, CA — The Lady Lions fall to St. Margaret's 11-7 today, dropping them to 3rd place in the 'mythical' San Juan Capistrano Championship. San Juan Hills defeated JSerra earlier in pre season and handled St Margarets in the same fashion. The match was played at the beautiful new Saddleback CC tennis complex and the weather was perfect. KOach O played entire squad present, 20+, rotating a few in at start of round 2, and 8 of 9 subs in line 3.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — Expectations were definitely exceeded today as the Lions were able to garner 5 more sets than our first match Sept 28. SM subbed out their line 3 player which gave us the set Neeka won, but, that was the only difference this change made.

Fullerton, CA — JSerra Lady Lions took their last road trip 'ever' to play Rosary at the Fulleeton Tennis Center and KOach couldn't be happier! [due to driving, distance and early start at a public facility].Rosary is dropping out of the Trinity League....

Laguna Beach, CA — This score was a total surprise to all of us, definitely not the same team we faced last year. Their coach did a great job of rebuilding / bringing former players back in to the fold.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — All of the girls competed well in this victory. Again, KOach used every sub, 18 players in all, as this time, the victory was secured at the completion of the 2nd round, 11 - 1.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra finished the 2022 campaign with a Senior Day victory over Orange Lutheran; 16 - 2 ; winning 107 individual games vs 32. All subs played! Everyone played great matches, tuning up for Trinity League Finals, to be held here Wednesday and Thursday.

Fullerton, CA — The Lions traveled up the the 57 today and promptly opened up a quick 6-0 lead over Rosary and never looked back; taking round 2 and 3, sweeping 5 of 6 sets in both of these latter rounds.

Fountain Valley, CA — In a hard-fought 1st round, the Lions 'bit the head off the snake" but, there were 2 of them! JSerra played their lineup straight up today strength vs strength in round 1. Jazmine Aftabi and Halle Parker jumped out ahead of the league's #1 undefeated doubles team and never looked back. It was an exciting set, decided by a 6-6 tiebreaker in JSerra's favor, 8 to 6. Scarlett fought from a big deficit but was unable to close out her singles match at line #1. None the less, the Lions found themselves down by 2 sets, 2 -4 at the end of round 1. KOach knew we'd pick up all 3 sets vs the Monarch's line 3 dubs and they did. Jazi and Halle's upset victory took the Mater Dei's best player out of the entire match, she had enough! This gave JSerra a glimmer of newfound hope. However, Mater Dei has plenty of depth, subbed in another strong player who was able to carry the line 1 team to 2 close wins. Jazi and Halle went on to sweep their remaining 2 sets in routine fashion for the hat trick!...a real good day at the office. Anna/Aerin and Sophie/Kylie picked up 1 set each for the Lions 4th and fifth tallies.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Rosary played some tough matches, but a D3 program that was overmatched today vs the Lions.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra waded in to some mild surf, warm water, no sting rays, not rip tides and comes ashore with a 15 - 3 victory. "This was definitely not the Beach of old" notes KOach, they had 2 top players quit and their next best player was ill. JSerra's starters were undefeated and ALL would be MVP's had they not been subbed out. KOach adds, "If you would have said to me earlier in the season, 'you will beat Dana 18-0 and Laguna 15-3', I would have sent you for an evauation"!

Santa Ana, CA — The Lions took to the road today, traveling to Santa Ana to play the team they beat in the 2022 CIF D2 Championships last November.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — KOch subbed liberally today vs. the Chargers, managing a 12 - 6 nonleague win. 50% of the starters were pulled after round 1 and in round 3, the Lions had 80% subs in this match. Fionulla and Sophia filled in defeating Charger lines 2 and 3, Bella and Ellie also came in an took care of line 3 dubs, 6-1. Cordelia captured 2 key singles sets as did Scarlett...the Charger's #1 player was undefeated until Scarlett rotated up and allowed only 2 games in this round 2 victory. Anna and Aerin added their usual 2, which would have been 3 had they stayed in. Grace played a grueling singles match, dropping a close 5-7 set with both squads on the courts watching! Elise/Gabbi, Sophie/Kylie were subbed after round 1, allowing their senior teammates to compete.

Mission Viejo, CA — A hot day for cross town rivalry match. "We were lucky to get this in" says Koach. St. Margaret's literally had not practiced or played a match, having scrapped 12 days due to heat. So, this was like starting the NFL with no preseason games OR practices. On top of that, the Tartans #1 girl was out with a wrist injury...

Huntington Beach, CA — KOach can’t remember why or when we first started playing Huntington Beach, but, knows we shouldn’t have been playing them at all. They were the CdM of NWest OC, situated close to a great tennis facility with a good academy. Then they got transfers from other parts of the country. We never came close to them and we had good teams! JSerra continued to schedule them throughout the covid times, because they have 12 nice, newly refurbished courts and can send 2 teams there and our third team hosts. The Oilers got to the semis last year in D1, losing to San Marino 9-9 on game count, who then lost 10-8 in the finals. KOach states, “I felt good today, going in, changed only the order of the lineup, not individuals….my scouting report was accurate, it was just off their last year’s roster! As I watched the warmups, I was very confidant that we would finally get a “W” over the school Keith, Kent and I played for years ago.”
