Tough finish to season for Blaze
Lakeville, MN — My mom always said, if you don’t have anything positive to say, don’t say anything at all. So I will report one nugget of good news - Jackson Kieffer had our only hit. Otherwise no need to rehash this game. I will say though it’s been an absolute pleasure watching these young men come together as a team and play baseball for Burnsville High School. I bet if you ask them they will say they had a great time playing with friends and competing their guts out against some of the toughest teams in the state. Memories made and life lessons learned. That’s what sports are about in the end. I am proud of all of these talented young men. Thanks to the coaches for working with our boys and making them better players and better people. Congrats and good luck to the seniors especially as they graduate next week and move on to their next adventures. Go Blaze!!

Hastings, MN — The Blaze came out and played like their season was on the line, which in fact, it was. The 7-seed Blaze hit and pitched like they were on a mission to get their first section win, and got it convincingly over 6-seed Hastings 9-5 on a warm day at Grossman Field at Hastings High School.

Blaze fall to Eagan 8-1 in Sections opener
Eagan, MN — #7 seeded Burnsville lost to #2 seeded Eagan on a gorgeous Memorial Day afternoon at Eagan High School by a score of 8-1. The score doesn't indicate how close this game was, and with a few calls or breaks that had gone another way, this could've been a much different ballgame.

Blaze keep it close, but fall to Prior Lake 4-2
Burnsville, MN — There are so many things to talk about in this very eventful final home game for the Blaze, but in the end it ended with Burnsville on the short end of the 4-2 score against Prior Lake. It seemed like the Lakers left multiple runners on base every inning, with the Blaze finding all sorts of ways to get out of trouble to keep the score close. Prior Lake did leave 11 men on base, most of the baserunners reaching via the walk, as Burnsville pitching issued 11 free passes on the night. Burnsville only had 1 walk issued to them, which turned out to be the difference in the game.

Burnsville, MN — After losing so many one-run games early in the year (5 to be exact), it was nice to see the Blaze win a close game 4-3 over Hastings on a sunny Saturday at Alimagnet. A bases loaded walk in the 6th inning to Ethan Voss proved to be the difference in this tight non-conference matchup.

Blaze fall in 5 innings to Rosemount on Senior Night
Burnsville, MN — Some nights are just not your night. The visiting Rosemount squad out played the Blaze in all facets of the game, and the score showed it. It was a quick 10-0 loss in 5 innings for the Blaze. The good news is, it didn't ruin Senior Night which was celebrated after the game. We honored the 12 seniors on the field along with their families. We are grateful to have had a beautiful night to celebrate and honor these young men who, despite not having a junior season, have shown amazing resilience and have represented the baseball program and their community in such a positive way. We are proud of all of them!

Blaze run win streak to 4; beat Apple Valley 11-3
Apple Valley, MN — On a spectacular day for baseball, the Blaze came roaring out of the gates, as the first 8 batters reached base. Seemed like the Blaze hitters were either getting hit or getting hits. We will take the former of course, but prefer the latter! The 5-run first inning set the tone for the day as the Burnsville boys were really seeing the ball well today - pounding out 13 hits, drawing 2 walks, and getting beaned 6 times!! The Blaze beat the Eagles 11-3 to sweep the season series.

Burnsville, MN — Things are clicking right now for the Burnsville boys - a 9-4 home victory over Eastview today at Alimagnet runs their win streak to 3 straight. A shaky first inning didn't phase them one bit. After falling behind 3-0, they strapped on their hitting shoes in the 2nd inning and got to work, posting a big ol' crooked number - hanging 6 runs on the Lightning on 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 hit batsmen in the inning. After that, the Blaze rode the very strong right arm of senior Ethan Voss to victory.

A low scoring affair that eventually went to extra innings, where the Cougars won it 2-1 in the bottom of the 8th on a walk off double by Loer.

The Blaze excelled at two out of three of these tonight, as a strong defense backed up some great pitching, especially by senior co-captain Ethan Voss, but the big hit never came. Prior Lake ended up winning the game 1-0 on a walk-off wild pitch by senior reliever Owen Geegan in the bottom of the 7th, finally breaking the scoreless tie and ending a well played baseball game at Memorial Park in Prior Lake.

Blaze drops season opener 4-3 in extras at Eastview
Apple Valley, MN — Wed, Apr 14, 2021: The result and the score of tonight's game is secondary to the fact that we were back playing high school baseball again tonight!! Yes!! Smiles all around underneath our masks as we watched the Burnsville nine take on the Eastview Lightning over in Apple Valley on a chilly, blustery, rainy afternoon. It was so great to be back on the field that the teams played some extra baseball as this one needed extra innings to be decided. Unfortunately, our Blaze fell 4-3 in 8 innings to a solid Eastview club.
