San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra finished the 2022 campaign with a Senior Day victory over Orange Lutheran; 16 - 2 ; winning 107 individual games vs 32. All subs played! Everyone played great matches, tuning up for Trinity League Finals, to be held here Wednesday and Thursday.

Fullerton, CA — The Lions traveled up the the 57 today and promptly opened up a quick 6-0 lead over Rosary and never looked back; taking round 2 and 3, sweeping 5 of 6 sets in both of these latter rounds.

Fountain Valley, CA — In a hard-fought 1st round, the Lions 'bit the head off the snake" but, there were 2 of them! JSerra played their lineup straight up today strength vs strength in round 1. Jazmine Aftabi and Halle Parker jumped out ahead of the league's #1 undefeated doubles team and never looked back. It was an exciting set, decided by a 6-6 tiebreaker in JSerra's favor, 8 to 6. Scarlett fought from a big deficit but was unable to close out her singles match at line #1. None the less, the Lions found themselves down by 2 sets, 2 -4 at the end of round 1. KOach knew we'd pick up all 3 sets vs the Monarch's line 3 dubs and they did. Jazi and Halle's upset victory took the Mater Dei's best player out of the entire match, she had enough! This gave JSerra a glimmer of newfound hope. However, Mater Dei has plenty of depth, subbed in another strong player who was able to carry the line 1 team to 2 close wins. Jazi and Halle went on to sweep their remaining 2 sets in routine fashion for the hat trick!...a real good day at the office. Anna/Aerin and Sophie/Kylie picked up 1 set each for the Lions 4th and fifth tallies.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Rosary played some tough matches, but a D3 program that was overmatched today vs the Lions.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra waded in to some mild surf, warm water, no sting rays, not rip tides and comes ashore with a 15 - 3 victory. "This was definitely not the Beach of old" notes KOach, they had 2 top players quit and their next best player was ill. JSerra's starters were undefeated and ALL would be MVP's had they not been subbed out. KOach adds, "If you would have said to me earlier in the season, 'you will beat Dana 18-0 and Laguna 15-3', I would have sent you for an evauation"!

Santa Ana, CA — The Lions took to the road today, traveling to Santa Ana to play the team they beat in the 2022 CIF D2 Championships last November.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — KOch subbed liberally today vs. the Chargers, managing a 12 - 6 nonleague win. 50% of the starters were pulled after round 1 and in round 3, the Lions had 80% subs in this match. Fionulla and Sophia filled in defeating Charger lines 2 and 3, Bella and Ellie also came in an took care of line 3 dubs, 6-1. Cordelia captured 2 key singles sets as did Scarlett...the Charger's #1 player was undefeated until Scarlett rotated up and allowed only 2 games in this round 2 victory. Anna and Aerin added their usual 2, which would have been 3 had they stayed in. Grace played a grueling singles match, dropping a close 5-7 set with both squads on the courts watching! Elise/Gabbi, Sophie/Kylie were subbed after round 1, allowing their senior teammates to compete.

Mission Viejo, CA — A hot day for cross town rivalry match. "We were lucky to get this in" says Koach. St. Margaret's literally had not practiced or played a match, having scrapped 12 days due to heat. So, this was like starting the NFL with no preseason games OR practices. On top of that, the Tartans #1 girl was out with a wrist injury...

San Juan Capistrano, CA — The lopsided score does not tell the whole story. Yes, Santa Margarita is very solid this year, from top to bottom, however, JSerra is the only team to even get a set of the Eagle’s JV team this year in Trinity League.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — JV Lady Lions got their overall record into the positive (now 8-7 overall, 3-1 in Trinity League) with a resounding win over visiting Mater Dei this afternoon.

Newport Beach, CA — Corona Del Mar won the first round 4-2, but as they subbed liberally, JSerra caught up and finished with a huge, historical victory over the Sea Kings: 12-6! Legitimate head to head first round victories earned MVP honors for Rosalia Ripullo who defeated their best player 6-3 and for Julia Harkins, who defeated their #3 player by that same score. Rosalia was the only Lion to win all 3 sets played this afternoon - an outstanding performance.

Newport Beach, CA — JSerra's Frosh girls traveled to Newport Beach to play Corona del Mar HS and came away with a rare victory vs this heralded program. "They are one of the only programs that have larger numbers than we [normally] have", says KOach Kirk. "They have 3 frosh teams and we were fortunate that their coach subbed generously today." CdM fielded a strong doubles crew in round 1 and the Lions were only able to pick up 2 singles matches, Rosalia at line #1 and Julia at line #3

San Clemente, CA — JSerra Frosh / Soph girl's tennis sailed into some very rough seas, losing to the Triton-esses of San Clemente 2 - 15 in the season opener. Great turnout .....Thank you parent drivers, photographers and football bleacher spectators ("tree people as Neil Diamond would call you).

San Juan Capistrano, CA — In the last match of the year for our “C” squad, they teamed with our “B” squad to defeat the visiting Monarchs. No matter the sport, regardless of the team level, it’s always a good day when JSerra beats Mater Dei at anything😀🎾👍

Fountain Valley, CA — Our DH1 traveling squad came so close today to notching another victory. We battled the Fountain Valley Barons to a 9-9 tie, only to lose on game count, 69-74😱Every game counts!....a good lesson for our young ladies to learn before (some of them) moving up to JV next season.

San Juan Capistrano, CA — DH-1 took care of Laguna Beach handily in our first match of the season; squads A & B kept up the winning edge vs The Breakers 10-8 this afternoon in a back and forth match.

San Clemente, CA — Pretty much the same score as before, but with 7 courts, we got 3 extra sets in, so everybody got to play a lot of tennis this morning in this all doubles format. Kudos to MVP’s for the day:

Huntington Beach, CA — Thank you for all the frosh players and parents who ventured to Huntington Beach on their day off to find no frosh team available. We put together a match with their JV team, 2 rounds and closest we came to any set was Hayden with Briana P, who fought to a tiebreaker in round one at line #3 doubles. With confirmation email in hand AND later signed contract from HB, Coach Kirk asked for the deserved forfeit, which we posted. "I am proud of how the girls competed vs. this strong JV team" said Kirk, it's the level our girls are striving for eventually anyway, so, they got a taste of it a year or two earlier!" Go lIons!

San Juan Capistrano, CA — Northwood was 30 minutes late and we were chomping at the bit! Waiting to avenge a 8 - 10 loss to them earlier in the season. First round was split 3-3, thanks to a huge tiebreaker win by Macclaine and Bella, 10-8! Second round the same, thanks to a great comeback tiebreaker win by Lauren and Brianna! They were down 2-5 and won 6-5! The Lions, always making it interesting, go to the final set, where we were down 1 - 3, before Natalie and Kayla climbed back into the lead 5-4, but couldn't break serve to avoid the breaker. Natalie and Kayla fought hard but came up 2 points short, 5-7. Had they been able to capture the breaker for a 9-9 overall tie, JSerra would have lost on game count 7- to 80.
